My name is Ray Hatley and I'd like to have something sensible or profound to write here that would really mean something to people. Unfortunately what I think and say is almost entirely nonsense. Don't say you haven't been warned...

I think I'll start by apologising. This is always a good way to begin anything that is going into the public domain as somebody somewhere is bound to be upset by it. I'm really very, very sorry. Okay? How was that for you? Good?

Right, apologising over.

Those who know me understand that I eat, sleep, breath and work leather. Sadly, even after more than 30 years of leatherworking, I still know very little about it; in fact every day I find more leathery things I know nothing about. Life is exciting like that.

Ignorance doesn't stop me pontificating at every available opportunity but as I've already apologised I guess that isn't a problem.

Finally, I collect and restore old leatherworking tools and machinery and one day would like to open a working leather museum but probably not before I have established world peace.
