  1. haha small world. I just searched my instagram after you said that. I had asked you about 6 weeks back how you made the creases on a goat wallet and you recommended the tips from ebay. Thanks!
  2. thanks. The giardini I got from Lekoza online leather shop. I have been using mostly Fenice recently and found the products comparable, will have to try it a few more times to make a better comparison. The creases were made with a tip on ebay from a chinese seller and its hooked up to a soldering iron. The tip looks like a cheap version of the fileteuse tips but works well enough so far.
  3. Interesting. I understand what you mean by the back piece with the extra layer but the front Im not sure. There is one extra piece facing out that just covers the center portion and goes under the hidden pockets but ends about half way in? If so that makes sense since it would look nice in the middle but it adds no extra bulk to the edges. Next wallet I make with goat on the outer Im going to try one layer like that, I don't know why but I thought it would be too thin on its own without some type of liner. Im assuming the liner you used is more for aesthetics, its not heavy enough to add any bulk. Either way awesome colors. What edge paint is that and what color?
  4. Sewed from the outside in for the first time on a bifold. I normally sew from the inside out since going around pockets is easier that way. Happy with the outside stitching but need to fix up the inside on my next one.
  5. very nice. So you turned the top of the backside piece correct and the front panel is only one layer of green as well? Curious because the goat I have from alran seems too thin on its own without lining it with another piece of leather. Ill post pictures of a wallet where I doubled it up. * Is this also the lower line of fil au chinois like you mentioned in the other post? If so can you send a link..would like to order some colors I can't justify a full spool of. thanks
  6. I have one as well and its defintely better quality and sharper than my vergez blanchard awl but I use that one more often because its narrower. I finally cut about 1/4" off the bottom to shorten it but I haven't attempted to grind it down at all yet so curious what others have to say. Its not wider than my vergez blade but it has more of a traditonal diamond shape, the vergez is flatter and shaped more like the slants of the pricking iron. what kind of awl were you using previously? One more thing to note is they vary in size greatly! They originally sent me 2 slim blades by mistake and one was a lot larger. I sent that one back I know they are handmade and don't expect them to be exactly the same size but the difference was pretty large.
  7. How does the au chinois thread feel compared to the lin cable? It looks pretty similar from what little I can tell in the pictures
  8. Also besides the pockets. How many layers total. Just 2 back to back for the main portion of the body?
  9. very nice. Is that the goat sully from alran or the main line? 8spi? Did you sew from the inside(orange) to the outer (taupe) part or from the outside in? I have been sewing with both sides being the front but I haven't settled on one way or the other. In this case I would probably sew from the outside in since the stitching is contrasting on that part and the backside would blend in with the thread. Trying to pick peoples brains on how they decide on the front. thanks
  10. http://imgur.com/52YxXZH IMO it looks good with 7spi as well. I usually do 9 but I tried it out last night. Top row is 7spi marked with a overstitch wheel and bottom is pricked with 9spi vergez
