I'm sure this has been asked a 1000 times, but I've missed the answer somehow. I've got the gold in the lettering, and I have some more tooling to do on the wallet cover. The problem is, every time I try to dye a practice piece I end up coloring the gold too. I've used cotton daubers, light strokes with a paint brush, rags wrapped around wood blocks, among other things. The material for the wallet is pretty thin so I cant go much deeper with the stamps. Can someone please help? I'm still pretty new at this. Thanks very much!

A couple of things I made for my Harley. Not real fancy but, they serve the purpose. When I get the courage up, I'll carve the cane holder. Thanks for looking.

Very nice Tina, I just turned to stone looking at it! LOL -
Thanks alot Holly, I will look her up. A three ring setup just wouldnt look right. I think I was going through a gilded phase with the cigar journal. I really like the material on the wine book but, I'm not real sure what you call it. Pebble grain? 6-7 oz I believe. Very nice color. Got some oil dyes the other day I need to learn how to make look right. Still learning carving and dyeing. Sorry for all the questions, I'm just glad there are so many people here willing to help me. Thanks again Holly. Leon

Cell Cases

Thanks everyone. RDB, I got the magnets at Zack Whites. They come with small tabs on them. You cut slots in your leather or liner, and push the tabs through then bend them over. Then glue your liner down. Pretty easy. If you still want a picture, let me know and I,ll put it up. Randy, You know the best place to have a die made? Thanks again -
Hey all! Just some cases I made for Christmas gifts. Sold 7. Anyone know where I can get a small horseshoe punch? Hand cutting those things was way too tedious. Used a snap for one of them, and magnets for the rest. I lined them with black felt. Any Colts fans out there? L Thanks for looking

My first leather project
Locknut replied to Locknut's topic in Purses, Wallets, Belts and Miscellaneous Pocket Items
Thanks everyone! Yeah Deb, I've never used a pattern for anything in leather. I've borrowed ideas before, but always designed it myself. I was a tool & die maker for twenty years before becoming disabled. I guess that gave me pretty good training in design and working with my hands. Theres a huge difference between steel and leather, but the concept is about the same. I didnt realize how satisfying it is to take a piece of leather and turn it into something useful and sometimes(for me) pleasing to the eye. Geez, I hope I didnt bore you with my life story. LOL Sorry. -
Here's the back. The stars are gold conchos. The braiding looks better than the picture shows. I've got to learn to take better pics.

Here's a jacket I've been working on. I was looking at guitars at my local music shop one day, and I heard a guy in a band say he needed a jacket to wear for shows. So I thought I'de give it a try. Not too flashy, just a little bling. Isnt that what they call it these days? LOL Hope I can find him again! If not I'll put it on E-bay. What do y'all think? Thanks for looking.

Rifle scabbard......finally finished!!!!
Locknut replied to Timbo's topic in Gun Holsters, Rifle Slings and Knife Sheathes
Timbo, What a great idea, putting the map on it and commererating the whole trip. And the rustic look is very impressive. Wish I'de have known you when I needed a scabbard for my cane on my motorcycle. I made one I'll have to show you sometime. Not nearly as good as yours, though. Great job! -
Tina, your carving just blows me away. Vey nice! The braid looks like the one I use alot. The book I got it from called it " The Triple Loop Spanish Edge". Looks great with that type lace. Leon
