thank you am happy how turned out for 1st hat, even if I might notice some flaw or flaws something I am sure other people who makes items can see in own projects yet otheres do not see. with you saying not all leather is the same, I am sure each hat might not come out as nice, still looking at adding the edge around the brim just not sure if might make it not look as nice if I do so. I am sure the more you work with leather the more you notice each hide is not the same & some you might plan to make one item yet is more suited for other item.

got around to dyeing my leather hat was not planning to go as dark, yet kind of grows on a person the more I look at it the more I like how it turned out. Not sure if other people have the same happen where you go for one color get another & lke how it turns out in the end.

was wanting to make a 3 strand mystery braid 22 1/2 long to 23" long I was trying to come up with how long the total length would need to be on the piece of leather.

wanted to try my hand at block dyeing, yet the videos I see feels like I are missing a step. for the project I see is 2 color or one color with veggie leather not dyed. is it just wrapping cloth (not sure if can be any fabric like old t shirt) over block of wood. put dye on give movement to soak in touch of paper towel or other piece of leather to get extra dye off before wipping over leather project you want to dye. or does one need to put a coating of somthing over the leather area you do not want dyed, trying to get some help in the area

k thanks any tips if wanting to dye a hat with even brown color. would wool dauber be best or is something else better to use for keep wanting to learn

was getting ready to dye my leather hat & normally I dye when fully dye having a day or more to dry. Is these the best way to dye, I read on another site someone does it when leather is still damp not sure what dyeing the leather damp would do or how it would come out. So asking for any tips to dyeing that helps get the even coloring threw out the leather project?

on the wire for the brim did you hand sew or use sewing machine

if you have a better way for doing sizing on hat size for the answer that would be great for not sure mine is the best

no sure the best answer for sure are better ones, when I did it I meaured around my head where the brim would fit before adding the top of the hat

k thanks still learning so was not sure if belly could be name used for part of the hat, happy you said is belly part of the hide. did the curling of the brim come more from using the belly or did you do something to give more that look thought might try when do another hat. is binding hard to do on a hat would that be just wrapping it in leather & making the hat have a trim around the edge? thanks again for all the help like the idea

k did not even know had iron on my work space. will looking into the bleaching have to look to see what item is in store thanks & you did just the brim on the inside or underside with the leather n rich

thanks letting me see just hopping can do & not have to keep putting on not sure of one needs to do it every few months or if once on is good to go thanks again for the help

like the idea of making the brim bend to any shape. are you looking at using leather or something like felt for the brim?

what part is the belly of the brim would that just be the middle & what did you find worked best to help keep the water from changing shape of the leather? thank you & yes a tough project. yes 1 piece crown thought would be easier for me. one you made looks nice, hope mine comes out nice looking once dyed. I see some speak of cleaning leather before dying is that something I should do, if so what should I use? very nice

what does everyone recommend using on a leather hat to help keep water proof & does not change the shape if some items can do that.
