  1. Ok, let's line these bad boys up, and get a pic, while the sun is out... Gotta love these short days, where it's already dark by 5:00pm MST. ;-) Quite the collection, for a small town boy. Ha Wow. 1.6mb restriction... Now what? Chas
  2. Normally we skin the whole animal, and carefully sew the bullet hole. But we use small bore for small game. Not sure what they used. 30-06 or 308? Haha maybe a 12g. Anyway, I hope that you can find some awesome uses. Coin purses are nice... ;-) Ear muffs are warm. Chas
  3. Hey, well I hope you can find some choice & stable sheets of wood for your projects. Those tables look great and I really like that top. You are lucky to have access to such a wonderful countertop material. That would make a great leather work table. ;-) Let me know if there is anything I can do to help you acquire your lumber... We have lots of places here, that carry pretty much all of it. Even exotic woods from other countries. Prices vary greatly. Chas
  4. No harm no foul. But I would never have gone to that extreme. Particularly at Christmas. Haha Only recommending a thought. Well anyway, wishing the OP good luck with their deer skin choices... Hope they post pics of the finished goods. ;-) Chas
  5. With one deer hide, how far can you really go? Tough to be making much in the garment side. That's why I suggested gloves. If it was an Alberta whitetail or muley, it would be a large hide. ;-) Chas
  6. At first, I was convinced, then read your post and thought not. But you set me straight. It's always nice to meet others who also enjoy archery and bowhunting. Yes, as you said earlier, it is much more challenging, and so more rewarding too. Did you see the unique arm guard design, in the Conversation section? Chas
  7. What are you doing with that skin? Who skinned it? Seems small, and to be shy of fur and skin. Most rabbits here are quite a bit larger than that bunny wabbit?, Chas
  8. I never bought one, only sharing the pic and addy. Yes, that would be cost prohibitive for me. No wonder auto body repair is so expensive. Haha I need to post a pic of my current hammers, mauls, mallets and more. So you can see, I'm in no shortage of things to slam, tap, and nail with. Will make a point of doing that pic in the morning light tomorrow. I have wanted to share that for a while already, anyway. When I said, mine is made of metal, it's not one mentioned, but was donated to me, in a box of free tools, shipped from Australia. Chas
  9. Yes, that makes sense. Humidity can really mess up good wood. $300 for shipping, yes, but you are dealing with 8' sheets. Seems like buying boards would be cheaper, but less effective for your moist conditions. You can find oriented strand board, there either? Chas
  10. That's got to be frustrating. Do Amazon ship lumber? Haha But you said plywood. What are you building with it? Suppose hard wood is not stable enough, or too pricey.. Chas
  11. KCL, When I said "not to 'your' liking", I only was referring to the OP. But quoted you, mainly to keep continuity of the post. I'm sorry if you felt like I was pointing a crooked finger at you. Not my intent, at all. It's a shame Tandy takes such a trouncing here, they always and all ways, treat me right. Forever have. Thankfully we mostly all have free will, and can shop around the globe, with the www at our fingertips. So be it. Hope you can and will understand my thoughts a little better now. Only trying to be helpful. No good deed goes unpunished... Chas
  12. Mutt, this is all your fault. Hahahaha & I need to refresh my speed reading skills. Chuckles Anyways, it seems we all have a great woodworking tool, supply chain. Chas
  13. Haha, you are correct. I had quickly read the address, and saw Ontario Ca. Pity, it should have read Ontario Can. ;-) Ah yes, thankfully we do have our Canadian Lee Valley Tools, but you can still order the free Rockler catalog. Chas
  14. The link I provided above, includes four different purse patterns. Perhaps not to your liking. One could certainly imbellish either of them, for personality and individual preferences. Or possibly get out a fresh sheet of graph paper, and begin to draw or draft a measured pattern, of your own delightful design. Chas
  15. Interesting topic, that interests myself as well. Upon doing a web search, I found a link to a previous post about suspenders construction, on this forum. The reference to the Bruce Grant book, was helpful, being that this book is in my leather work library. Cool. Chas
  16. You don't have to think about it, once you learn a few simpler ones, you can continue to learn more detailed joinery. You can see a few nice examples here: https://www.pinterest.ca/explore/japanese-joinery/ Imagine attempting a few of these, done only with mallet and razor sharp chisels. Chuckles Ah well, probably not for the Canadian beaver. Or myself for that matter... Chas
  17. A few years ago, actually several, I took a Millwork & Cabinet making course at our N.A.I.T. College. My father was a Forman with Poole Construction. A major company here in the capital city. So I decided to learn about his profession, as he passed away when I was only 16 years old, and legally wasn't allowed to work on their job sites. So I took the course and absolutely loved it. Mortise and Tenon joints were one of the many wood joints we learned about. There are literally dozens. lap, dove tail, finger joints... Not even including what the Chinese and Japanese use. Pictured is some incredibly precise Japanese joinery. Quite the feat... Chas
  18. Mine doesn't have delrin heads, but for $249, that's a little pricey. Plus they are made for forming/shaping metal. http://ns1.holidays.net/store/Metal-Shaping-Mallet-Set-wooden-Handle-With-Delrin-Heads_382137292524.html A little bit cheaper, but metal handle. http://www.proshapertools.com/product/metal-shaping-mallet-delrin-heads-metal-handle/ Yes, but I do like the look of that one with the wooden handle, mine is made from metal. Just way too pricey for my budget. Chas
  19. We don't have to visit the stores to become a loyal customer. I checked the website, to see that they indeed have a Canadian location. http://www.rockler.com/retail/stores/ca/ontario-store You piqued my interest, so I went ahead and requested a free catalog. Thanks. http://go.rockler.com/catalog.cfm I'm always interested in learning about fine wood working tools. ;-) Chas
  20. Ah yes the Pica pencil. http://www.leevalley.com/US/wood/page.aspx?p=71121&cat=1,42936 Those are handy, and useful. Chas
  21. Look at that lovely cover... ;-) http://www.leevalley.com/en/home/OnlineCatalog.aspx?id=710b63a6 & who here, doesn't use wing dividers? Ha Chas
  22. I believe they were to be opening a store location in Nevada. Perhaps in Reno? No it appears to be in Las Vegas... ;-) Contact Information Lee Valley Tools USA Inc. 4625 Nevada Ave Las Vegas, NV 89104 Contact: Title: Phone: (613) 596-0350 Website: Lee Valley Tools USA Inc. is the only company located at 4625 Nevada Ave, Las Vegas, NV 89104 https://www.bizapedia.com/nv/lee-valley-tools-usa-inc.html Where are you located, situated, living??? OK. If you can order your items from their USA location, to Bossier City, Louisiana, it should be a breeze. Chas
  23. It might be easier to buy a simple purse pattern from Tandy, or other suppliers.. Here's one example: https://www.tandyleather.com/en/product/handbag-pattern-pack Chas
  24. Lee Valley, is a store unto itself. There are no equals. Only imitators. Haha Ah, yet we say imitation is the nicest form of flattery, but the tools aren't the same. Yes, nor the special items that are unique to Lee Valley distributors. Their yearly Christmas catalog, is always a delight, for sure... http://www.leevalley.com/en/home/OnlineCatalogs.aspx The cover pics on all of these catalogs are very special as well... Unique. Chas
  25. Deer skin gloves are very nice. If a lot of work. But very comfortable. With enough skin, you could even make a lovely vest, or jacket. Fringes are a nice touch. ;-) Chas
