  1. I'm trying to attempt new tings, and with new things one needs new tools! I recently acquired these used tools and I'd like to know what they are. If I can just get an ID, I'll go search info about them, so no need to describe what they do, unless you've got time on your hands. Please check out the photos below: Buckles and friends. These look new, or hardly used. What's the wood block for? The rod on top has pointy ends. Tool below it is made of plastic. Brush is hard. Flat view. Standing. Side view (last one is an xacto knife, pretty sure of that). Top view. Please let me know what you think! :D .
  2. That's a bummer! However I'd love to see the work that you did for him. What type of guns did you make the holsters for? I'm sure you can resell them so someone, maybe for a lower price, but at least it won't be a complete loss!

I've actually started working with fish leather and I'd be glad to give it a go. I'll send you a PM to work out the details.

    Toad Skin Leather?

I haven't used it yet, but I have too many ideas, I'm sure I'll find several things to make with it. I'll post some items when I've worked with it a little.

    Toad Skin Leather?

Van Amburg Leathers got back to me 1st and quickly, sent some nice photos and gave me a phone number to call. Prices are $5 to $20 depending on the size and color of the toad skin. And Jerry is a super nice person! Very responsive to my emails and seems to be real easy going. I plan to get a few skins from him to start. He is in the USA (toads sourced from Australia) and I'll get about 5 skins to see what I can do with them. Exoticleather got back to me quickly too. They have a required wholesale Minimum Order Quantity of $1,500. I left it at that. Toadfactory got back to me the next day. They are in Austraila and have a minimum order of AUD$100 for whole sale. Their prices are the best, and if I like working with toad leather, and need a large quantity, I'd buy from them. I'd need to see how much shipping is though, as this may interfere with the low cost. They sent a ton of photos and have been very responsive to my questions.

    Toad Skin Leather?

Thanks barehandcustoms. I'm wondering . . . are there any sources for even cheaper toad skins? Maybe wholesale?
  10. Where do you find low cost Toad Skin Leather? I'd prefer a non china source.
  11. Wow . . . That was the most amazing streamlined shot of information you could give! I have learned, I have been taught. I am thankful and appreciative (and impressed) by that . . . thank you for taking the time to write that up. That info is something that, no doubt, will help others who are learning like me. I'm floored . . . thank you again!
  12. Yes, those are issues! Thanks for the explanation! :D
  13. Thank you, you three, for the replies! Super helpful! Itch, can you elaborate on "could lead to issues on where it is used "? How so? Thanks again everyone!
  14. I've read that wet forming leather is only done with vegetable tanned leather. Why isn't chrome tanned leather used for wet forming? I'm new to this and I don't have a full understanding of how it all works. Your patience is appreciated!
  15. That's a really nice story to go along with the sheath. Very considerate that you added the neon orange . . . and it looks banging cool!
