  1. Lobo, You're a Prince. I'll try the neatsfoot oil. Thanks & stay safe...
  2. Lobo, Thanks so much for sharing your method. It really helps. I use Fiebings Oil as well but I have not tried to Oil prior to final coat which is Leather Balm with Atom Wax or Resolene. Could you share your oiling method? (If this is giving up one of your secrets - I understand) Again many thanks & stay safe.
  3. Can anyone tell me where the Leathercraft Shows will be held for 2009? I would love to go to one but they are always too far away.
  4. Do most of the top holster craftsmen "Air Brush" or "use a Dauber" to get the mirror like finish on their products ? I was comparing one of Josh Bulmans & Lou Alessi's rigs last night & it amazing not only the quality of work but the finish they can obtain.
  5. I purchased my 3000 three weeks ago at the old price. I second the "slap in the face"
  6. Thanks everyone for your reply. I'll get on it this morning & do some shopping. Stay safe....
  7. Several weeks ago there was a thread that discussed the above topic. I cannot find it to save my life but it mentioned a piece of felt approx 3/4" thick clamped on a cloths pen, to be used when applying edge dye. (I am having alot of trouble with the dye running down on my non-dyed liner) Looking for a better way but for the life of me - I cannot locate felt that thick. Does anyone know where I can buy the material in that or close to that thickness? Thanks so much....
  8. That looks great. I was just at HD & didn't see it. I would have jumped on it. Nice find......
  9. ydduit; Nice job.... Boning - by hand or did you use a press. My first couple of holsters were not a pretty sight. In the trash they went.
  10. Ed, A very nice job. I'm sure he will enjoy for many years.
  11. Lobo, Thanks for your input - it really helps. Good luck with your new digs & keep the frig stocked.... Stay safe.
  12. I was just there on Fri & purchased a shop press & ask about a belt sander & didn't have one. Will check it out again. Thanks for the heads up. Stay safe.....
  13. tonyc1; That's the way to do it right - if you have a strap cutter.
  14. Congrats Lobo; What more could you ask for. Doing something you love to do with no one standing over you & your favorite adult beverage in the frig. And your making money do it. What more could you ask for....
  15. I'm glad I'm not the only one having problems with this. I thought it was just me not being able to cut a straight strap.
  16. Do most of you find that you need to sand your liner & belt after glued or holsters to get your leather even & smooth? Maybe it's just me lately - but I can't seem to cut a straight line so that both sides match up. Sanding has become a norm around my shop. Any suggestions?
  17. Tac; Tx for the info. I forgot to mention - they will be used in a press. Do u think that would make a big difference?
  18. I need several "Dummy Guns" (for holster making). Would you suggest the "Blue Gun" (such as Ring) or the "Metal" type. Where would the best pricing be? Thanks in advance for any help.
  19. Last night I applied a coat of Resolene (the 1st time I have used this stuff) with a wool dauber (following directions on the bottle) to a black holster. This morning the holster looks all blotchy. I normally use Atom Wax and nothing like this has ever happened. I used a piece of sheeps wool on it & nothing. What have I done wrong & can the Resolene be removed without removing the dye? If not I'm afraid the holster is ruined. Thanks for any help.....
  20. It will rub off on clothing even if I put gum on before I burnish???
  21. Has anyone found an easy way to apply "Reliable" - Wax and Burnishing Ink while making sure the edge is covered & yet keeping it off of the face or surface of the holster or belt? You have to put enough on to blacken the edge but mine running down on the product. Also, what is the drying time for this ink. (How soon can you start to burnish ?) Thanks for your help.
  22. Damn, this hobby doesn't give you much room for mistakes. Kinda like reloading.. Thanks for the come-backs...
  23. Bob, thanks for the come back. I'll try it.
