  1. Thank You I love the gun. The more and more I research I did on it confirmed my Father in laws choice in weapons. Its handed down from him. He had quite a collection.
  2. Thank You...it is kinda pretty.
  3. I usually mess something up in the process, but most of the time I can find a way to work it into the project. This was one I couldn't blend in. LOL I just hate to throw away good leather and the time it took.
  4. ALZilla..yup the mess is on the back. Gonna use it and make the next one better.
  5. Hags.. yes that's where I messed up. If you don't start that awl perfectly you aren't going to change direction on 4 layers of 8-10 oz
  6. Thank you. Saw the Don Gonzalez video on the weave and had to use it somewhere.
  7. 1st time showing my work on here. Been soaking up the info on here and love it. I worked really carefully on this one and messed up at the end. Got that figured out for next time.
  8. Out of the box as usual....great way to approach this. Very unique problem solving. Love it!!!
  9. After a visit to the Texas Ranger museum, where there were several holsters with that thick welt, I've been told its called a Texas bridge
  10. I have no experience with that one...but I have to say the Dwayne Watts knife I recently purchased has been a game changer for me. I don't have to try and swivel the body to turn the blade around corners etc. The blade just follows and turns as I follow the design.
  11. This is a good place to dive in and learn from really experienced people.
  12. Neatlac or Saddlelac will give you an acrylic seal if you don't mind the shiny finish. Lots of people on here suggest Mop n Glow diluted 50/50 I kind of like the shiny finish
  13. I have done a fair amount of dyeing with Eco Flo water colors and have run into the same thing. My best results are after I let the piece dry for at least 24 hrs preferably 48. I'm in S Texas and it can be quite humid. I then buff with a terrycloth or wool cloth to get any excess dye off the surface. The first coat of finish ( I use Super Sheen) is applied with a wool dauber and extremely light. A small pump bottle mister also works well. Again dry dry dry. 2nd coat is heavier and the the finish should be complete.
  14. Really cheap hack for the rivets is.. I use a grade 8 bolt from the hardware store--I keep a 5/16, 3/8,7/16 and 1/2 bolt handy. They have a cupped end on the thread end of the bolt that is pretty close to the curve on those domed rivets. Unfortunately it does not work for double capped (rivets with dome caps on both ends)
