Their are slots cut with a bag punch and laced through. No stitches. I used rivets at ends but not needed. See Dwight’s method below.

I sew 2 layers of 10-11 oz veg tanned with 138 thread.
-
When the lockdowns started I bought enough plain rice and enough dried beans to fill a 5 gallon bucket each. Used up most of the beans, that rice won’t get soft if you boil it all day.
-
Mine is set up for 138 thread. There is a guy on here named Uwe who has one running 277 thread.
-
Looks about like my 225 and it stitches right on.
Where are you located?

Thank you. Hbound, this is about the same machine.

I had a link to the Navy Singer 111 Manual and it won’t link now. Anybody got a current one?

What’s your holiday over there Fred? We had Memorial Day Monday. Helped cook 300 Boston Butts Saturday.

I am in the JNA area of Tennessee. Just North of Alabama. State Line above Huntsville Al.

The Colt Frontier 44 mag in the Al Stohlman book might be close. I have no idea how to create a digital pattern or I would send you one for a New Model Blackhawk.
-
I think he said that he could not have either gun in shop. If he wet forms it it might stretch enough anyway. Or just trace 1/2 or so outside the smaller pattern. There outa be a new model Blackhawk pattern floating somewhere. You can make it where the adjustable sights sit above the top of the holster.
Another thought. If the same customer wants both holsters, make the Colt holster first and let the customer see if it also fits his Blackhawk. If so, make 2. If not, make a little bigger one.
-
The New Model Blackhawk will just be a little beefier in frame and cylinder than a SAA. Big adjustable sights vs a groove sight on SAA. Probably 1/2 inch all around extra. Old Model Blackhawk very similar in size to SAA. Colt Army is the Colt Single Action Army, Model P, Model 1873.
-
Tandy has a holster pattern book with single action revolvers but not as specific on models. The Al Stohlman patterns run a bit small.
-
Will Gormley patterns. You can order direct from him or Weaver Leather. I know he has several for Colt Army and I imagine some of them could be modified for a Blackhawk if he does not have one. Main difference is large adjustable sights on Blackhawk. New Model is a bit thicker than Colt Army, old model Blackhawk and Vaquero.

Here is a machine model vs. bobbin chart
-
I think that is a G bobbin. Look at thread exchange.

Thanks

Thanks guys. I got some eyelets at hobby lobby and they had no setter to sell. Better to compare in person but all I can do is look at online products. Guess the solid brass would be better than the plated grommets.
-
Grommets are pretty much eyelets with a washer ring that goes on the back before crimping. Not sure if dimensions are the same between eyelets and grommets in the same brand. Have not used them much myself. I want to do rifle buttstock covers and plan to lace them on. The eyelets/grommets would not necessarily be needed but the brass will maybe dress it up. Not sure which will be easier on stock finish.
-
Can you set eyelets with a grommet setter of the same size or is this a separate tool? I have eyelets and no setter. Gonna order grommets and setter. Can’t seem to find a tool labeled eyelet setter. Thanks.

I’m not sure if you can carry out any vocation or avocation without some computer interaction. I needed a rocker switch for my drill press. I put a toggle on it but I use it a lot and wanted to fix it right. I went to 5 electrical supplies, including a very large one in a city. Also called Grainger and 2 other supplies. Most would not even look, even with a part number. Looked at Amazon and got it in my mailbox in 3 days. And we are urged to shop local, support small business. But sorry, not a political thread.

Here is another no stitch firearm project. You could you use rivets instead of the snap but the snap lets you put it on without taking off your belt.
