I thought I was close as I found a keychain that had something nice and asked about it.. seller said he doesn’t give that info out.. i have emailed most of the bigger hardware companies showing a pic and nobody had any suggestions.. Cobra Class 26 needle not grabbing the bobbin thread
ToddW replied to ToddW's topic in Leather Sewing Machines
I agree.. its on me somehow :-). I'm pretty sure the path is correct.. I do believe the thread is thinner, I did have to shift the needle down from original config to allow the thread to pass through the shaft.. I have played with the top tension.. -
Cobra Class 26 needle not grabbing the bobbin thread
ToddW posted a topic in Leather Sewing Machines
ok.. kinda of embarrassing.. Bought the Cobra Class 26 new and been sitting in my leather room for over a year. Most of my stuff, I can hand sew so just never tried. Well.... this weekend, I decided to build a laptop slip case.. the Cobra shipped with a white thread and I changed it out to a beige thread to match the case. I loaded a bobbin and threaded it via a youtube video.. On the thread that shipped with it, it ran stitches just fine.. with the threadding I did, the needle doesn't pick up the bobbin thread.. the needle pulls the bobbin thread to start but does not catch it while stitching. while threading the needle, I had to lower the needle a bit as it would not thread through that hole on the shaft above the needle.. my theory is that I have the timing off or something. If I raise the needle back up, I can't thread the thread through that hole above the base of the needle. I watched a bunch of video's and don't have any thread down in the bobbin area. The machine moves freely which is why I am thinking its a timing issue. Thoughts?? -
Quick Question.. When I am hand stitching a wallet or key chain, I often snag the thread in the hole which is a problem when pulling it back tight. Is there a trick or something that makes it easier not to snag the thread in the hole when coming back through it?

definitely understand... I did go to buckle guy first.. and have google'd and looked at the normal ones. Happy to see you responding as everyone has their unique experience.. I'm a newbie wanna be leather guy :-). I just saw that one that I liked and noticed apple also uses a similar feel.. was hoping it was an easy find but looks like I need to get more creative.. All good..

boy.. are the reviews bad.. seems its a total crap product but I do like the look of that snap.. Lots of company names selling the same product... Nimalist and Normest and a lot more... reviews outside the website are horrible..

thanks! missed the review stating its a snap.. it is very clean and I do like it a lot. it might even been cleaned up in photoshop but the finish looks good.

I am working on a wallet with an AirTag holder and saw this wallet with a nice flat (I think) Chicago Screw.. I ordered some off Amazon and they were beveled.. I emailed buckle guy and they don't have anything like this.. Anyone have an idea where I can get something like this. Other challenge is I am using horween cordovan shell and its pretty thin.. The smallest chicago screw I have found is 4mm.. I tried a 4mm one from amazon (I don't like the beveled look on the ones from Amazon) and its a little big meaning Its not as tight as I want.. thinking 3mm is what I need.. I need to be able to remove it to change the battery in the airtag and I have access to do so from inside the wallet..

whats the difference between V92 and V138.. assume thickness? I like a thicker thread look..

finally getting around to start sewing with my cobra class 26 I bought and wanting to order up some thread. I sew passport covers, small bags a wallet here and there.. wanting some good thread for it and not sure what size and where a good place to get it at. The needle is the one that came on the machine from the factory as its brand new. I like the saddle back look which is prominent thread

Advice on sewing machine and accessories please !

I went the COBRA Class 26 direction which I thought was the most rounded machine as I do wallets and bags.. -
is there a spray paint close to the COBRA color?
ToddW replied to ToddW's topic in Leather Sewing Machines
Rust Oxide primer was almost a perfect match but was a real flat finish. Close enough for me.. Almost put a clear satin finish but it got dark outside... I have the stand finished.. Taped off the motor and got a lite coat on it. I am torn on painting the skiver itself as I just don't want to take it apart and not sure my masking skills are good enough. The skiver is an Artisian which is an odd shade of green or teal. I'm not that particular but didn't want my work room to look like the front of lowes with all the different grills. Since the work room is so small, everything is in pretty close vicinity. Appreciate all the responses... If I had more time, probably would have gone the eastwood route as I do have a paint gun and that looks pretty good. -
I have a skiver table I want to paint and looking to see if I can get close to the COBRA color. I have a COBRA sewing machine and the skiver is in the same room as the COBRA. Any idea of a spray paint that is close?

What other sewing machines are like the Cobra class 26?
ToddW replied to ToddW's topic in Leather Sewing Machines
Picked up my Cobra 26 from KC at Traditions Leathercraft in OK. Special call out to Allen Cope for giving me the lead on the machine as it was much appreciated. Allen was at the shop when I got there so got to meet someone from the site!! KC was great to work with and his shop is amzing. It was a 3 hour trip there and 3 hours home but was worth it saving the shipping. Now on to all the COBRA videos on youtube and facebook. Going to have plenty to keep me busy for awhile. Todd -
Is there a way to remove black mold on soft leather?
ToddW replied to ToddW's topic in How Do I Do That?
ok -
I was going through some of my mom's stuff that got damaged in Hurricane Harvey and found 3 new Louis Vuitton purses. I think one of them, she tried mineral spirts which did nothing but drying the leather out. Louis Vuitton said to file it on insurance that it is not fixable. Any ideas? Wife was kinda wanting them but not with the black stains. Pic's attached..
