  1. Agreed I am humbled, thank you. If you have facetime we could go over some of the ways. I am retired so trying to keep busy.
  2. Thought it would be nice to share the bridge photo I took that this bridge reminds me of. I loved BW because it distills the photo down to the subject without the intrusion of color. It is one of the reasons my preference is natural leather and antique instead of painting. Thank you it was fun playing with different stamps. Thank you, agreed the artist rendered the pattern extremely well.
  3. I don't teach for pay, but I am willing to help if you have facetime or similar. Don Gonzalez has a youtube channel, he has good info on floral. Some are 3 or so years old. Jim Linnell has a site plus video classes you can buy and download to watch over again no time limit. He has lots of stuff from starting to advanced. If you are interested in people Annie Libertini has some great classes on it. Those are also on Jim's site. Aeron Heizer has a channel (Makers Leather Supply). I am not selling, still learning and pushing.
  4. Thank you Thank you, I am excited for this one as it has special meaning to me. This was the easy side, but the other has meaning and will pair well. Possible, checked out my photo and they are different. Thank you. I seem to have clicked with figure carving. I like western and still do it, but I can't draw so it limits my ability. With figure all that is needed is a photo. Thank you. If you want I can share classes and places that have helped me.
  5. Started work on a simple briefcase for myself. Thought it would be fun to share the journey. As a Vermonter (who moved) my love for covered bridges grew from a young age. It was so much fun photographing the bridges in different seasons. This particular tooling bears a striking resemblance to a bridge close to my house, it is uncanny, Started this panel last night at 8 pm thinking it would be done by 1 am. I was wrong, the border was being done as the kids were getting on the bus. This led to a brain fart, the bushes on the left took a quick look at the pattern and carved the wrong side of the line! My lesson was learned, not to start something at night.
  6. Thank you, if you like I can send you a photo of the pattern for 10 1/2 size. If possible will scan for actual size pdf. I am sorry to hear about the arthritis. Thank you, there is much respect for the shoemakers. They have lots of talent. Thank you These weren't hard, if you want I can share the pattern for 10 1/2 foot.
  7. My old house-shoes were worn out, wanted to try making a pair. Drew up a pattern and gave it a go. Sewed on a class 4 without gluing. Stitching needs improvement but they are usable and learned, if another pair is made.
  8. Sweet, sometimes looks trump function.
  9. Thank you for the compliment Thank you I sewed it on my class 4, tried to glue but with the curves didn't work for me. I ended up manipulating the gusset as it was being sewn. The front went pretty well, the back was another story. Sewed the center bottom and went up some on one side then sewed the top two ends with the last finishing that side. Then went to the other side working top down it got more interesting the farther down it got. Ended up using smooth jawed needle-nose pliers for the last 4 or so inches. That's where she got it. You are right about the usable space. With the size it will hold what she wants, but it was more of a fun piece than practical.
  10. Thank you, it was a challenge. Thank you Thank you, fun to try unique stuff I get bored easily. Brass is good Buckle Guy has some good stuff. Not one I would like to do again. Thank you, My wife calls herself Abbi for abnormal. Guess some has rubbed off. Thank you, love too.
  11. Thank you Thank you, had some good teachers. Forgot to include the inside, and the finished photo of a happy wife.
  12. Thank you. Finished the body.
  13. Gini saw a purse she liked, except the size. What's a husband to do? Started designing and making her one she wants. Tomorrow hopefully will assemble the gusset, it does scare me. This is the most complicated one due to the curves.
  14. Thank you, have to get back to it. But you have to make hay when the sun is shining. Working outside.
  15. Thank you. I just don't show the bad. Great way to use your leathers skills and store some pipes. Thank you. Thank you. It did and my arm was sore. Thank you, will post as we go.
  16. Made a pipe tool pipe rest. To go in a pipe roll.
  17. Got the top pipe holder done. It is 6 instead of 5 happy surprise.
  18. Wanted to make a wall hanger to hold pipes, tobacco, and accessories. Doing a little carving on it. Lots more to do on other pieces.

  20. Sweet, loved him on Saturday mornings.
  21. Thank you, that is very expensive. It cost me 50 cents a bowl. Only smoke 2 to maybe 3 bowls a day. Thank you, Jim Linnell has good classes on how to do it. Keep at it. Thank you, I used two domed rivets instead of the flat ones it came with. Glad they are cheap. Thank you. I love cigars they just cost to much. 3 bowls a day cost $1.50 of bulk. Usually only 2.
  22. This is really nice, may try it if you don't mind.
  23. Made a tobacco tray with a carving of my favorite breed.
  24. Nice interpretation of the wallet. It sounds interesting, Gini and I talked about it. Love that they can be donated to benefit the Veterans. May be a little to late to join.
