Started a notebook cover for my wife. She loves sunflowers and butterflies, along with clover and honey bees. Tomorrow hopefully will start on tooling the inside flaps.

Thank you That's a great idea, hadn't thought of that. Yeh the dye went through to the back. it was on the front dorsal fin area. Thank you get lucky sometimes. Finished the wallet, it grew on me as it was being finished. Not that this will be a regular, but may do a few now and then.

Had one of those days! Spent 4 hours tooling the wallet face and was finished. Reaching for the black dye, usually give it a little shake. This time the cap wasn't secure and black dye came out and a big blotch landed on the bass. Sat for a while frustrated thinking about what was going to happen. I am not a painter, I prefer natural with antique. Well out came the paints, might as well take what was going to be scrap and practice so at least some good can come of it. Like Gini said, it is better than with the black splotch. Not to her liking though.

It is a number if different stamps (figure carving) to do this. Traced the drawing on the leather. Thank you for the compliment, Jim Linnell's Elk Track Studios has a number of classes that have helped me.

Thank you, try to challenge myself to learn. Thank you, it is a drawing from Jim Linnell, had to adjust for this sheath. It is done, tried a new method on the securing strap. Last one it was mentioned about the possibility of the rivet scratching the handle. Wanted a wide belt loop so tried securing to the back and slots through the front, no rivet.

Finished the tooling, will assemble in the morning.

Working on a knife sheath for a benefit event that is close to my heart. The back was the easy part.

I haven’t responded till now, because the post was meant to Honor those who gave everything when called upon. This was the hardest project I have done! Not because of technical difficulty, but due to Honoring those who it represents and the place. My father was a WWII vet. Who served with the 85th Div. from Camp Shelby thought the end in Northern Italy. During this time period he received the Bronze Star. He was a man short in stature, but not one who could be intimidated. I am also an Army vet. who had the privilege of serving on some of the very same places he trained on. The photo this tooling is based off I took on Dec. 27, 2008 at 11:25 AM. During a bucket list trip to Arlington and the Mall with special emphasis on The Tomb and WWII Memorial. Gini and I were talking last week about the next project. During brainstorming Memorial Day came to mind and it was settled. Next was the process of going through the D.C. trip file to find this image. A ruler was used in marking lines on the leather, all the swivel knife work was freehand with numerous breaks due to my hands trembling. The letters were cut with a swivel knife, have heard many times to practice with your swivel knife so that you can cut on the lines. So true, had a couple waivers in it you may see. This was tooled on roughly 4-6 oz leather not sure of maker, it was there.

Working on a bi-fold wallet for a friend who was a bass fisherman. It will be a surprise for him, his wife snuck a photo of his wallet so the right style was made. Used my smallest figure beveler on this one, first time needing it.

Thank you, I love western themed stuff. But wanted to try something different, to do something pertaining to the east coast. Thank you Thank you, it was fun. Thank you, it was a fun challenge.

Finished mounting the leather to a flask for a thirsty individual.

Wanted to try something a little different. The Carolina coast was home to Pirates, the locals talk about. Granted this isn't a pirate ship, but it is a sailing ship. The pattern was a Gene Noland.

WOW, just WOW

Nice work, love it when lifters are employed really adds life to the toolings.

Wife killed a small rattlesnake at the foot of our ramp with a machete, late in the day. Then walked into our eldest daughters room and told her she's not going outside after dark. She didn't realize that when she said it the machete was still in her hand. A Southern Alabama redneck put a scare in her. We chuckle about it now. Like the hatband, don't know it I would wear it. Used to tell people they had better not be in front of me if I encountered a snake. It does look great on the hat, and is well done.

Ran into a problem with my notebook. The front and back covers are supple and wouldn't slide back in the pocket slots properly when closed. Thought of adding stiffeners to them, but the back of notebook was not held to the spine like what was wanted. The signatures are held in by the lace, why not use them and affix mounting points to tie it in. Took some of the lining leather glued and folded it on itself then set some grommets. Sewed them down then laced it in, now it stays better. Still some slack due to the lacing material used in securing the signatures. Thought this might help others. More photos
