1. Can you use color leather paints on top of it ? 2. How long does it normally take for you to make 1 gallon of the stuff up I put the metal nails in it ( about 2-3 lbs worth ) and its been a week and it seems like now is when its just starting to bubble like crazy.

Was asked to show how to make these at a workshop and since my first one I made was just me grabbing some scrap and not really measuring it I decided to make another one. I need to put the snaps on the piece but other then that I finally have a pattern to work off of and though its a little bit bigger it still looks basically the same ( once again I forgot to punch a hole in the middle to remove the tool easier but a simple pinch on the sides works just as good ) Dont know what happened to the bottom part but the one side is because of trying to see if I couldn't hit the basketweave on its side and get only a partial imprint.

The Actual Pieces to make copies of them in the leather itself. Would be greatly appreciated if you have them.

Does anyone have these on their computer. Have a friend who needs to get these as soon as possible and no tandy stores carry the patterns at this time.

Ok Fine I'm wrong then we live we learn. Looking more into it yes it is done differently I am just going by what I read on the process of making chrome leather. The pieces I have made still look good if they Rot they rot if they dont they dont. I'll just use dyes and stains a lot more easier and less hassle figuring out.

Once again hate to post again when there was no responses but the chemist I was telling you about mentions that its not a sulfide it a sulfate and that chrome tanned leather is made with Chromium Sulfate. So No offense but this isnt going to destroy leather. I have a few pieces one of them Im wearing now and will continue to wear to see if anything does happen but the fact that sulfate is used in some tanning processes means that sulfate will not destroy leathers.

Well it was worth a shot and I'll see how the small pieces ( just scraps nothing on them ) work out in the end anyways. Also I'm seeing that they have sulfur dyes for leather. If Sulfur is bad for leather why do they have the dyes ?

Chemist friend told me you could use Ferric Sulfate instead of the ferric acetate that is made when you do the vinegar thing so he sent me some to play with I mixed 7 grams of the stuff + a mixture of 1/4 cup vinegar and 3/4 water and I let the crystals disolve and straight from that I dunked in a piece of the leather and bam its black now.... The Ferric Sulfate my friend gave me was recrystalized so it was cleaner then the stuff you would get at a plant store but he assures me its the same stuff you just have to filter the mixture if your going to use the stuff from the plant store... I'll try and take some photos tommorrow of the piece but yeah instead of waiting a week this stuff can be made in a day and used and a big bag of it is about 10 dollars.

I need a buckle blank with a buckle that is a little bit bigger then 2 3/4". He wants the piece to be 2 7/8 by 4 inches... If anyone knows of where I might be able to aquire such blank (Tandy only had them at 2" being the biggest ).

I just pulled the scrap out of the scrap pile... I'm going to try and use it on the final piece since it did get a good look over the piece I sharpied

Yeah I'd have to use my side to make some of those the scrap I have left isnt long enough but I see where your going with this looks interesting and might give it a try maybe try and sell some online somewhere. I can see how it was made to simple and elegant and I have some of the stamps to do some of the styles of designs no conchos though. I'll see what I can do.

Yeah Im running out of the scraps the wonderful and great MikePatterson sent me but I do have a whole side I bought before I got unemployed... I did fill out the unemployment paperwork so I'm just waiting for that. Most of what you guys have seen has came from scraps. Here shortly I'll be posting two more images up also from stuff mike sent me and also from stuff Johanna sent me. Surprizing that Mike sent me so much and its already almost gone..

Yes I have green ecoflow all in one and I am putting it on a collar. I was planning on using a sharpie and coloring the rose stamps I impressed into the leather.. I tried this on scrap but the ecoflow didnt seem to want to absorb into the scrap. I used a piece of cloth and I did the circular method of applying. Does anyone know why some of this didnt seem to absorb into the leather.

Actually I started it cause I was steamed it just had happened and I needed to vent. Which actually helped quite a bit thanks everyone. I know I'll get something better and I have had to work crappy jobs to tell the truth the job I had was one of those jobs for the longest time until I got moved into my own little area.

Only Have the one edger at the moment. So a Bone Folder wont work ?

More times then I can count... There was one place I could Subscribe to but didnt have a way to unsubscribe didnt have a way of contacting the place either. I just blocked them from being able to pull from my card and then I got a call from them I told them I didn't want the subscription and that they didnt have a way for me to unsubscribe. From what i heard later on I wasn't the only one that had that problem with this place.

How do I smooth the flesh side or is that even possible. I'm making a collar and wanted to make the area that goes around her neck smooth without having to rely on putting a liner in.

so I fold it on the grain side and use the edger on the fold like I would be using it on the edge of the leather.

Cant sell the car its not in my name so Im stuck paying it. My tools only cost 600 dollars total anyways ( Just started out I dont have a TON of tools ) Wish I didnt have to do unemployment but thats where Im being pushed into right now. It will pay off my Car payments each month since thats only 380. I shouldn't even be worrying as much it just hit me hard yesterday. I have it lucky compared to a lot of others who have been laid off. I dont have house payments. I dont have credit payments.

That woudl work if I had dyes and stuff i only have 1 dye and that's cactus green. I have an alphabet stamps. The only leather I have is a 5/6 side. My unemployment will be taken completely by debts that's why I know I cant just get a part time job cause 5-6 dollars wont cover my debt payments.
