Thanks to all, I always appreciate feedback...as the 1911 holsters are so short and the double leather very stiff, you can't fold the holster into the skirt as you would with a longer revolver holster, the unit has to be sewn first and then the strap fitted, hence the rivets and screws have to go in after...this is the only way I could think of to do this.....other than one other ( unfinished ) revolver holster, these are the only holsters I have made. Yes, the pics aren't that clear, but I don't have a good camera or smart phone. If I was to do photo's for advertising or whatever I would have to get them done properly. Again, thanks for the input. Roger

No offence taken...difference of opinion welcome.... Roger

Very nice Will, for competition use the trigger has to be covered and must cover up to the ejection port on the slide. Roger

I used part of an old Al Stohlman pattern for this...I cant see it as the wrong gun / holster.... These are commercailly available ones ( attached pic )..Wild Bunch is a pistol competition styled after the movie of the same name. Roger

Its not quite as bad as that....you can still have handguns if you are a member of a shooting club. Roger

I made a couple of knife sheaths for various knives.....a pancake for my work knife, an SOB for a tracker style knife I made and one for my old Mora... The pocket in the SOB carries a diamond sharpener, ferro rod and assorted bits and bobs... Roger

I made some pouches for some mates in the Big Game Rifle Club..... I use girth elastic to hold the rounds, some are spaced for double rifles and the pic of the cases gives you an idea of the sizes... Roger

This is one I just finished for a mates 470 NE double rifle, the flap folds behind so he can grab two cartridges at a time with thumb and two fingers.... Roger

Yes. I shoot a Gold Cup in what we call " STEEL CHALLENGE " here in Australia and I like to be a bit more practical with my gear. Most competitors use all types of race guns and optics with plastic holsters and mag holders. I would like to make more, maybe not " traditional " gear but leather gear...if that makes sense... Roger

This may not be the right place for this, but has anyone made a competition style holster for a 1911 ?? Roger

I usually get about six bucks for them, not a lot but I do sell quite a few... Roger

To the right market, yes. A bit of mucking around but better when you do a mob of them, good use for small off cuts, easy with the doo-hickey for cutting the leather out ( cutter cost about $35 ) I found the best market is gun shops, they put them next to the cash register ( like the chocolates at Woolies ) Roger

Sorry to rain on your parade, but I've been doing these for several years now....as you said, cut the shotgun cases down with a Dremel, pop out the primer and its surround then re-fit using an appropriate size eyelet then super glue a used large rifle primer back in the center. With the rifle ones, I cut the base at about 3/8" then put six cuts in the body to flare out once its fitted to the leather..I hope this makes sense, the pics may clarify... Roger

Pdm25150...Those are made to go on your belt or in your pocket....the pics below are made for your pocket, they are in different lengths for different cases but are all 100mm/4" wide to fit in a shirt pocket.... Roger

I assume you are asking about the forms for the top half of these pouches.....I make them from what we call " Form Ply "....the centre piece which forms the pouch varies depending on how deep I need the pouch to be, the base and the top stay the same. Roger

This is a bit of an old post, so I may as well add to it while I'm here.....This is one of three small pouches for holding 22's that I made for a mates boys, they'll easily hold up to 100 rounds.... Roger

Nice work....your knives ? Roger
-
No, I always put in a 2 or 3 mm thick, 10 to 12 mm wide welt on the outside edge. It protects the stitching from the blade and the blade from the rivets. A bit hard to see in the pics..... Roger

Finished the last two sheaths for this bloke...top one is a small of the back sheath for a camp knife, the other is a second sheath for his " Lion Killer " knife. Here are all four ready to go... Roger
