Finished this customer project this weekend. Tried something different and went with dye for the edges instead of the Uniters/Fenice paint I usually use. I’m a pretty happy with the results just wish I could have got some better pictures. Wallet is fully lined 0.6mm burgundy buttero hand stitched with 0.45mm black waxed linen thread spaced at 3.38mm edges are finished and angelus jet black alcohol dye. From the raw edge I planed first to square everything up then sanded with 200/600/1000/2000 grit sandpaper burnishing with tokenole in between grits to keep the fibres down then dyed and burnished once more then a light coat of wax was applied. I feel like my edges could have came out better but I think for my first attempt it was a success. comments and critiques always welcome

Here’s a last minute Christmas gift that was sent out. Wallet is constructed of 3oz black buttero with black 0.45mm waxed linen thread spaced at 3.38mm and black Uniters edge paint... I got this side of leather on sale from Rocky Mountain so I wasn’t able to have it split.. I usually prefer 1.0/1.5oz leather to keep the bulk down but I did a lot of skiving where I could to keep this project as thin as possible. Questions comment and critiques always welcome. Happy holidays !! Thanks for looking

Back with another wallet. I really like the way this one came out. The mpg Aragona has a beautiful pull up when flexed. I did apply a layer of Aussie leather conditioner to it and it turned the leather darker than I would have liked but I think it still looks great and feels nice in the hand. This one is black buttero for the outside wall and inner money pocket with mpg aragona in charcoal for the inside. Hand sewn with 0.45mm black waxed linen thread spaced at 5mm. Edge paint is uniters black. comments and critiques always welcome thanks for looking!!

Hello, I originally posted this topic on reddit, but thought that people here might also be interested. I noticed that some of us would like to get Buttero leather (Conceria Walpier), but face high prices, unavailability in Europe or, in case of contacting the tannery directly, high order volume. I'm currently thinking about running a campaign on Indiegogo to crowdfund a purchase of Buttero. I contacted the tannery and calculated that I will be able to sell a single skin (about 1.35–1.50 sq. m / 14.5–16 sqf) below around 150–160$ + international shipping around 20–25$. I will ship from Europe, so no EU import fees. I still can't get a quote from the tannery on their shipping options, but if they are what I expect, the price shouldn't change. For a start there will be only one choice of colour available, but if the campaign in successful I might be able to add another colour. For a start, I'm considering the most popular tan colour. Thickness can be any starting from 1.2 to 2,8 mm. There will be an option to order half a hide. The question is whether any of you will be interesting in purchasing some? If yes, please leave your interest via this Google form and I'll make sure to give you a discount when the campaign starts.https://goo.gl/forms/VnWNSbgLzPnyaD2L2 Thanks!

Hey guys, just wondering if it is safe to use Fiebings Carnauba cream to finish Buttero leather. I've seen a few posts on finishing Buttero with Saphir Renovateur which seems like a good option but I have a gallon of the stuff and am trying to use it up.

I don't know if you guys had successfully ordered any buttero leather before. Please let me know how to do it... really appreciate it..

Hi, I have spent a long time to search distributors who are selling Italian, French, German high quality leathers, and now I'm totally exhausted that I can't find any. Actual product names what I am looking for are, Minerva Box Buttero Shrunken calf (Weinheimer, GER) Dakota Toiano I've contacted some distributors, but some of them answered me that I better find a wholesaler or visit local retail shop because most of distributors don't sell leathers via online internationally that custom(or quarantine) problem might be occurred in leather international shipment. I'm leaving in Brisbane, Australia, really hard to find local one only with internet searching. Could you please advise me the way to find worldwide European leather distributors? Thanks a lot.
