Hey everyone, I hope you all are doing well. I have a KWIK Print model 86 hot foil stamping/embossing machine that I'm looking to part with. I wanted to offer it here first because, well, I just like the idea of it being put to use on leather more than I care to think about "Karen" from my kid's PTA using it to stamp out hair ribbons for some toddler beauty pageant or something. Feel free to call me biased if you'd like- you wouldn't be wrong. The machine is in great condition with nothing in regards to any flaws or damage to mention. Everything works as it should, and there won't be any negative surprises with it. I purchased the machine roughly 2-3 years ago for a large job that I was offered, and as happens to all of us at least once it seems, what was a guaranteed as a "sure thing," fell through no sooner than I bought the machine. Other than just here-and-there, it's just been taking up space in my workshop as I've transitioned more to woodworking as of late and nowadays seldom find myself working with hide very often at all. I wasn't quite ready to give up the idea of it being something I would eventually put to good use, but my wife is unexpectedly expecting our 3rd child in May (she vehemently swears it's mine but I'm not ready to give up hope just yet). We'll be moving to a larger soon, so things like this Kwik Print are having to find a new home, as well. The machine comes with the heating element, a separate heat controller, line finder, multi-line type holder, automatic foil feeder attachment, and an assortment of dies consisting of 3-6+/- of each letter of the alphabet and maybe some other odd and end dies such as punctuation and whatnot, I'm not entirely sure as I type this. All of these things are sold as "options" through the manufacturer, but without them, the machine is essentially useless. As far as I know, all of these "options" include everything that's available for these machines. New, the bare machine will run you right at $1800, and with the "add-on," it pushes the total price to $4000 give or take a few bucks. I purchased the machine secondhand for $1800. I'm not quite sure the exact figure right at this moment, but I can assure you that this thing weighs a pretty substantial amount. My guess is it weighs just a touch less than the burden my wife is putting on me to sell it. As a result, I'm unfortunately going to have to restrict shipping to the U.S. lower 48. If you live in Alaska or Hawaii and are interested in it, you'd probably be better off just buying a plane ticket and coming to grab it yourself. If you're that hellbent on it, I'd be more than happy to meet you at the airport haha. I'm located in central Mississippi and if a transaction is imminent, I could swing driving a couple of hours in any direction if it helped saved someone some time and a few bucks on the shipping. I'm asking $1000+ shipping. If shipping exceeds $300, then the machine + shipping is yours at $1300 total. If it's less than $300, you can keep the difference. I'll accept payment through PayPal or CashApp. If it'd make you more comfortable, I have no issues photographing myself with my I.D. or whatever other reasonable request that you may have in order to give you some assurance that I'm a legitimate person wanting to make a legitimate deal. If that's not sufficient, then I do have a small eBay account that I mainly use to sell antique watches on, and I could list the machine for sell there for you to purchase it through them. However, with seller's fees being what they are, and the fact they take fees from the shipping costs, as well, the final price would have to be at $150 more than the previous mentioned final figure. If you have any questions at all, hell they don't even have to be about the machine (I'm quite knowledgeable about all things related to kids), or if you would like additional photos, please do not hesitate to ask. In an attempt to save on shipping costs and protect the machine, I will be disassembling it for shipping, and will be shipping the cast iron parts in one package, and the heat controller, heating element, type holder, etc., in another. I'll be sure to bag the hardware in a way that should make it as easy as possible to reassemble. If you've ever successfully used the defrost setting on a microwave, reassembly won't be any issue for you. It's not that the two things are similar in any way, but I feel like that's a decent enough gauge of competency to go by. I appreciate you taking to time to read all of this. Thanks.

Hi all, I've been lurking for a bit and this is my first post- I know there is a lot of info below, but I could really use some guidance regarding hot stamping machines. To get it out of the way early, I'm not especially interested in buying used/ off ebay. (frankly because I don't know exactly what to look for, and am concerned about not getting the right thing/getting ripped off, and this is my first real "big" equipment purchase and ebay feels risky for my first bigger investment) I'm a pretty small business so ideally it would be nice to start with something moderately priced (that is still good quality) before I invest thousands on something super fancy or top of the line- but I'm just worried I might spend hundred on a hunk of junk and that I might not even get it to function in the way I need, because to be honest I'm not sure exactly what I should be buying. For background, I'm in the business of making softcover leather books. Typically with upholstery weight leather, in the 2.3-3.5 oz ballpark, but in the future would like to expand into products with slightly heavier 4-5 oz weights (but the leather I use now definitely needs heat to set a stamp, pressure stamping doesn't work on what I use). I do a lot of personalization and have been using a handheld burner tool thus far, but I need to upgrade to something a bit more professional that can get the job done faster and cleaner. I'd need a machine with a type setter/holder, or equivalent, and a set (or a few) of type. (Goudy Light or Times New Roman, or similar, ideally)For now I only need one row of type, but it would be nice if down the road it had the capability to do multi line. Foiling would be a nice future option as well, but it's definitely not absolutely necessary that the machine be set up for it as all my current stamping is blind debossing anyway (and I could always just lay the foil down flat on the piece, I dont *need* the whole roll feed set up, right?) So I've tried doing a bit of research, and kingsley and kwik print machines seem like *the* thing here in the US, and as I understand it kingsleys are no longer made? but kwik prints are, but the thing is, Kwikprints website was supposedly hacked, and I had a heck of a time getting in touch with anybody online (I'm not one for phone calls, and I'd like to get some info in writing, and eventually found them on FB) I did email with someone named Jay, but he sent a somewhat general email and didn't follow up with more info about the models he suggested, and didn't reply when I asked more questions. So I really have no idea if this company is legit anymore. Not sure how I would even go about buying securely since their website is "down". Doing a transaction over the phone just doesn't seem secure. Anyways, that was 6 months ago, and in the time since I've found Tandy also has a hot stamping machine, but I'm unclear what kind of type would work or be available to go with it- I could find any of the machines accessories on Tandys website. I also found kwikprint machines on talas for a pretty penny. Talas has it set up as "build your machine" type of thing for Kwik prints with all the accessories separately, and even still I'm not sure what all I would really need, and it seems pretty expensive to do it this way. I've also found plenty of these kinds of machines on amazon, Asian supplier websites, and a few other sites, but for most of them it's unclear what kind of typesetter and sets of type I would need/could use with these random "off brand" machines. I've heard some type only works with some machines, and I'm sure not all holders work with all machines either, etc. Also, some type sets I *have* found seems like they comes with just one of each letter, which seems a little silly. Is this normal and people buy multiple sets of the same type, or can you buy sets of type anywhere with multiples of the more popular letters (you know, like if someone wants "Sally" on their item, I'm gonna need two L's, ya know?) I'm feeling really over my head in this search, and I need help! Any info or guidance in any form would be greatly appreciated.

Hey there, so this is my first "how do i do that?"... I need some resources here... i have the general idea on how to hot stamp 24kt gold onto leather but I have heard it's better to use 24kt "gold foil" rather than gold leafing... does anyone know where I can find this? And if not, where is the best place to find genuine gold leafing? and any other pointers would be great. thank you!

Have been tasked with cleaning and selling out an unused section of our warehouse that contained machinery from an old leather and textile business. I am working on cleaning the machines and making sure that they are running. Since there is a lot of machinery if there is anything in particular that you are interested in I will work on those machines first.
