I finished this holster a little while ago. The first set of pictures I had taken of it gave the holster an orange hue. After doing a lot of reading on photography, I experimented last night with a black background. Done some editing with the Gimp software and this is what I came up with. The holster itself is a Slim Jim pattern from Will Ghormley's Forty-niner pattern pack.

This is a Ruger lc9/lc9s holster with matching single mag pouch. The holster has a 5 degree can't. The set is smooth lined inside and left natural in color. The accent is brown Ostrich leg. I used some 6/7 and 2/3 Hermann Oak that I had on hand. The holster ended up at roughly 10 For the back and 9.5 for the front. I like this total thickness. I have been debating on getting more 8/9 or moving to 9/10. I think 9/10 will be what I get next.

Finished up an avenger style holster for a Ruger LCP. Thanks to JLS leather for his write up on making the pattern.

This one just might be my favorite one to date. It was not heavily tooled, but more of an understated classic. I really enjoyed the challenge; and, it was a challenge. I had a great time with it, though. Thanks to Jim Simmons for the awesome tutorial. Anyway, to the meat. Ruger Super Blackhawk 44 mag. 5.5" 6/7oz. lined with 4/5oz. Fiebing's Leather Dye British Tan Border was Fiebing's Professional Oil Dye 2:1 (Light Brown:Chocolate) Thumb Break from Will Ghormely's Hand of God Rig (boy that blood knot was a pain) Designed the pattern and built the holster using the Bunkhouse Tools mold, then borrowed the actual gun for some photos. (The Bunkhouse Tools mold was the 7.5"; you have no idea how nervous I was the first time I slipped the actual gun into the holster for the first time...in front of the client.) It fit perfectly, almost like it was made for it... Hand stitched with #415 Bonded Nylon (Coyote) from The Thread Exchange (Thanks to Nigel Armitage and Ian Atkinson on YouTube for the stitching tips) I'm not elated with the stitching, but it's the best I've managed to date, so I'll take it. I like the holster so much, I may have to go out and get me a Super Blackhawk just to make one for myself. Ha, yeah, like I have time to make stuff for myself. I have a couple more orders for 7.5" models on the list, so please let me have it. As always, I appreciate the criticism, so keep it coming. I've learned a ton from the great constructive criticism here. You guys are the best. Thank you, Steve

My attempt at a holster for hip or chest use. Carries nice both ways.

A customer of mine recently bought a POS holster on Amazon. The thing was still wet and transferred dye to his hands when he pulled it out of the box! So now he wants me to make him a new one. Problem is, I have NO clue how to make this holster he wants. He offered to send the POS to me to reverse engineer a new holster, but would rather return it and get his money back. So my question is this: Is there a pattern for this holster?

Been a while since I posted anything...let me know what's what, folks! First, a two-tone Avenger style holster for a 3 1/2" Ruger Bisley stainless steel Blackhawk 44mag (Lipsey Exclusive)...Saddle Tan with Basket Weave stamping over Dark Brown and White Thread...with a hammer thong and 2" belt slots. A special thanks to Clay Miller for the new stamp used on this holster...his ever-expanding line of tooling far exceeds my meager skills. Next, is a field holster for a Ruger Blackhawk 41mag..Saddle Tan with White Thread...simple oil finish...very rustic. Dual belt loop design allows for strong side or cross draw carry. Finally, a simple hand-sewn knife sheath for a Sharp (Japan) skinning/hunting knife...Saddle tan with White Thread. As always, I appreciate the input!
