Some camping stools I did for my nieces and nephew Christmas gifts. Modeled after Christopher Schwartz’ campaign stool.

Hey all. I'm making a campaign stool for my boy but instead of using bolts to join the legs I want to use leather. I'm thinking something along the lines of a leather band which is nailed or screwed to the one of the legs and the band stitched closed to form the loop. Has anyone seen or done this before? I've only found one example online

So about a week ago I decided that I would make my brother a bar stool for Christmas. He builds and plays cigar box guitars and goes by the aka Judge Gazza. The design was actually made for him by a friend to resemble the Converse All Stars logo. It was kind of slow going because punching all of those holes and doing that round braid is killer on my wrists. Everything was going fine and I was set to finish it up today to gift to him tomorrow. Then I began to hammer tack the top on this cheap p.o.s. chinese made stool and the screws holding the legs on started to pop out. I got it mostly attached and only added one of the side decorative nails. Then I just wrapped it up and he's going to have to finish it He has the tools and the ability to fix or replace the stool. It just sucks that I have to give it to him in this state. Merry Christmas everyone!

A simple tool carousel that holds all the tools i want close at hand when leatherworking. Its made from a recycled adjustable wooden stool with a rotating seat. The legs were chopped off, then holes cut for the tools. It was bolted in the corner between two perpendicular benches, to allow the spiral shaft to remain, and thus it can still spin and rise/fall as required. A coupke of magnets were embedded in the rear of one leg so my round knife can be stored safely out of the way but remain instantly accesible.© ©2014 Barkingrooster.co.uk

I'm looking to start my first camp/tripod stool, and I've pretty much settled on following a couple of tutorials that have the leather directly mounted/attached to the legs rather than creating pockets at the corners of the seat for the legs to be placed into. Here are the two tutorials I'm referencing for my project: http://www.craftsmanspace.com/Free%20projects/Fishing%20folding%20stool.pdf http://woodandfaulk.com/make/folding-tripod-camp-stool The first tutorial shows a piece of extra leather sewn to the bottom of the seat for additional strength. Is this necessary, and worth the effort? I'm not afraid of the extra work, but I just want to make sure it's worth doing. Any input on the project as a whole is appreciated. Many thanks!

Hey Everyone, I've got a project in the works for a couple of fire-fighter themed barstools. What I'm looking for is a supplier that sells JUST the legs for making your own barstools, and sells them in small quantities or even singles. One that has a nice varied selection would be great. I've googled, ebayed, even mcmaster-carred, and can't seem to find such a supplier (unless I want to order several thousand units, direct from china, to be sent in my very own shipping container... ) If I can't find a supplier, I'll probably have to hit up Sam's Club, Walmart, etc. and try to find some stools that will work and just canniballize them for the parts, but I thought I might ask here first before going that route. We're more than capable of making them ourselves at our shop (welding/fab, machining, general mechanics type place), but I've crunched the numbers, and to make the run of just three or four sets of legs would put this project way over budget. Thanks everyone, -Aaron
