Landry Report post Posted April 21, 2022 (edited) Hello everyone I am looking for some info about a tippmann boss sowing machine. Currently I hand stitch my leather goods but I have started getting into harder projects that have gussets and accordions. I saw this tippmann boss is going to be auctioned off soon locally not sure if there’s any other leather working stuff. I know it’s hand operated and it’s been a long while since I’ve used a sowing machine in school. My questions are what would be a good price used? Also wondering about it’s size compared to say a cobra and what uses I can get out of it? I still want to hand stitch but looking to use this for harder areas like the gusset. Any advice would be appreciated thanks. Edited April 21, 2022 by Landry Poor photo

I have seen items go for more then the cost of a new one at on site auctions where people have gotten into "it's mine" mindset. So it is really is going to depend on the crowd at the auction. I would set my price probably at the 40 to 50 percent mark and should the biding go above that mark I would walk away. kgg

Dwight Report post Posted April 22, 2022 (edited) I paid 1K for mine over 20 years ago . . . have gotten my money back and then some . . . I have sewn holsters, vests, belts, knife sheaths, scabbards, chaps, one hat that I recall . . . and probably a bunch of stuff I don't remember . . . ahh . . . yes . . . and sewed up the driver's boot for an over the road trucker who wore out his right boot . . . gas pedal and all. Seriously . . . if the machine works good and I needed another one . . . I'd pay 800 for it . . . but I also know the people who made it . . . they are wonderful folks to work with. Mine needed some pro paws on it a couple of times . . . they cleaned off their work stations . . . fixed me right up. (I don't know them as friends . . . just as business acquaintances . . . but again, they welcomed me with open arms . . . I drove my machine up there to get it fixed in Ft Wayne Indiana). Best wishes . . . may God bless, Dwight Edited April 22, 2022 by Dwight

chrisash Report post Posted April 22, 2022 There are a few other manual leather machines, one is the OUTLAW and the other a newer design I forget the name but as a wheel to sew rather than push pull and might be a more natural action
