I really dislike the small keyboards. I have to keep backing up and re-typing my comments. So I use a computer most of the time where my fingers fit the keyboard. I still make lots of typos, but much easier to correct. I'll have to setup a login on my phone and see what the screen looks like as to what happens to the edit button. Normally it's there for an hour or two before it expires. Quote

Okay, I set up access on my cell phone so now I can see what the typical screen should look like on a phone. First of all, are you expecting the "Edit" button to be on the screen while you are submitting a reply or post? If that is the case, no, there is no "Edit" button. You have access to correct what is on the screen until you hit the "Submit Reply" button. After it is submitted, you need the "Edit" button. If you are going back to a post you just made and submitted, there should be an edit button at the bottom of the post. Starting in the bottom left corner, you should see a "+" sign, then "Quote", then "Edit", then maybe "Options". I have the options item, you might not as I have extra tools that users don't have. Please note that the "Edit" button option times out. It's only there for a short period of time, maybe an hour or two. (Have never figured out how long, as it is there for moderators all the time.) Then you would have to quote and make a correction in a new reply, or report it and ask a moderator to fix it for you and explain what the fix is that is required. As far as ADA goes, maybe your device needs to be ADA compliant. So a much larger tablet or keyboard to make it easier to hit the right characters. Quote

Notice the prompt "Click to choose files". It's only there during the time you are formulating your post. Once posted by hitting the "Submit Reply" button, that prompt goes away and the "Edit Button" should be visible and appear like this: Another indication that it hasn't been posted yet is that your keyboard is still visible. The keyboard goes away after the post has been submitted. So far to me, it appears to be a case of user error. Quote
Members Mablung Posted April 3, 2024 Members Report Posted April 3, 2024 Interesting, mostly useless factoid: It’s arguable at best that the site needs to be made ADA-accessible, because the language of the ADA has not been extended to websites by Congress, nor has the Supreme Court interpreted it to apply to websites, either. There is a split among the US Circuit Courts of Appeals that have addressed the issue regarding whether the phrase “place of public accommodation” applies to websites, rather than solely physical places. The Circuits that have held the word “place” covers websites rely on a purposivist approach to construing the text to analogize websites to the kinds of (physical) places inarguably covered, websites’ importance to most Americans’ lives now, just like physical places they need to access, and the apparent purpose of Congress to require those that accommodate the public to make their places accessible to those with disabilities. The Circuits that have reached the opposite conclusion reason that the text as enacted in 1990 and later amended in (I think) 2007 refers to physical places and physical places only, as evident from the plain, ordinary meaning of the word “place,” as understood at the time of enactment, and the examples within the statute of “places” covered are all physical places and thus do not include non-physical so-called “places”. With that bit of legal trivia, I recede again into the background… *None of this legal advice, so don’t view it as such. Quote
