ftnpenlvr Report post Posted September 16, 2022 Well, I've started it... I know I want to feature a raven, moon, and some branches, so, that's in the middle of the front. Now I just have to figure out what I want to add in to fill the rest of the empty space on the front. The back will probably be basketweaving... Open to suggestions... I thought vinework tying into the branches, but, not sure the two go together real well...
DwightT Report post Posted September 17, 2022 There's nothing wrong with just leaving it empty. Sometime simple is better and IMO adding more tooling around your image will just distract from it.
rleather Report post Posted September 17, 2022 What I suggest, is go ahead and tool the main image. I often find that after I get started , everything falls into place. You get a "feel "for what it needs as you go along. I hope this helps, have fun tooling, and be sure to send pics when done!

Great idea. Sometimes, I will get out some of my stamps and start making marks on scrap leather and find a unique pattern between 2 or more of the stamps and take off with it. Also, explore YT for border stamping.

That can take forever as I can be a bit indecisive...a bit like a 'crafters block' YT is also a handy tool . ftnpenlvr Report post Posted December 15, 2022 Finally finished a couple months ago, and been too busy to post. Finally got 'round to it, and here's the final result. I like it, but, I need to work on figure carving to get more details and rounded shape to the bird
