Fraulein Report post Posted July 25, 2023 They look great! Really like the diamond pattern on the one. Was that done with a swivel knife?

Was that done with a swivel knife? Thank you very much ! While I have used a swivel knife for this small pattern it is much quicker and a it easier to use a stitching awl . It cuts nicely without worry of going too deep . Bigger patterns still get the swivel knife ,
CJJ Report post Posted July 25, 2023 those look great. Clean and simple but still unique. nice work
MarshalWill Report post Posted July 25, 2023 Good job on those. I wouldn't have thought to use the stitch awl for the cross hatching. I've done it with a swivel knife in the past. Maybe I'll try an awl next time.
Hags Report post Posted July 26, 2023 Nice work! I have built several of these, recently, 4 smaller ones to fit across the drawer in my carving desk.
Fraulein Report post Posted July 26, 2023 Very clever using the stitching awl! Now my next question: how do you keep your lines so straight???
Gezzer Report post Posted July 26, 2023 @CJJ Thank you . @MarshalWill Thank you , it works well for small patterns . @Hags Thanks ! Good idea . using small ones for tools/parts ? @Fraulein I just use a straightedge the width I need ( 3/8 inch in this case ) to make the pattern size I want. There is no lay out other than the first 2 lines at 60 degrees ( that is just what I use ) , then I just move straightedge over for each cut. I could NOT get close to straight freehand with the awl
