If it's a snub nose 38, a J frame holster should work, assuming it's a 2" barrel. After that, there are hundreds of variations on 38 caliber revolvers, up to 8 3/8" barrels.  I've got a generic holster pattern made out of plexiglass that can be modified to fit most anything. If you get desperate, I can trace it onto paper and scan it in.

S&W has a K frame .38 special (.38 S&W special). Its the round not the revolver.

Also some J frames have no external hammer (if some sort of a keeper were considered)

it was for the Smith 8 shot 22lr j frame, it should fit.

@chuck123wapati FWIW I think you sent that pattern to me when I was looking to make a holster for my Taurus.  I wound up using the one from @JLSleather though, but yours and Jeff's were similar (at least to my untrained eye).

I recommend those Slick Bald patterns. I learned more from that guy than any other person I read or watched on the youtube. I do create my own patterns from watching and learning on the youtube. But I use the methods that Slick Bald taught me through his pattern packs.
