CFM Frodo Posted September 27, 2023 CFM Report Posted September 27, 2023 I bought a side gyom Springfield that is a veg tan split I found a huge brand on it and decided to make the brand part of the project here is my project First image is the front panel next is the back panel and then flap what I am wondering is the best method to highlight the brand when I apply my stain I will be using an antique saddle tan should I first paint the brand with a resist Quote Singer 66, Chi Chi Patcher, Rex 26-188, singer 29k62 , 2-needles D.C.F.M
Members Aven Posted September 27, 2023 Members Report Posted September 27, 2023 I like it Frodo. If this was my project I would use the resist on the brands. Quote
CFM chuck123wapati Posted September 27, 2023 CFM Report Posted September 27, 2023 I wouldn't resist them because there are no real outlines to follow I think the brand will dye differently than the rest and be just as noticeable. I don’t do these things to other people, and I require the same from them.” THE DUKE!

Members Burkhardt Posted September 28, 2023 Members Report Posted September 28, 2023 My thought would be since it is a split is that it would take the antique like the background of something that has back grounding done when tooled meaning it will turn black over the whole thing instead of tan even with a resist on it.
