SUP Report post Posted January 14 (edited) This is just an FYI for anyone who might be wanting to get into leather work or even leatherworkers whose knowledge has some blank areas - mine does.. The book titled "Leather Crafting starter Book" available at Tandy Leather gives a lot of useful information and plenty of tips. I just saw it today. Along with describing basic tools needed, It also teaches basics like saddle stitching, lacing, how to glue leather together, which glue to use when and so on. It also has nifty little projects for the beginner. The cute little dinosaurs are my favourite. Other projects include simple wallets, making a whip, flowers and a simple bag. I put this here because I did not know where else to put it. @Northmount, if it should be in a different place, could you please move it? Wepster Report post Posted January 14 little less $ https://www.alibris.com/booksearch?keyword=LEATHER+CRAFTING+STARTER+BOOK&mtype=B&qsort=p sometimes these books can be found online as pdfs, legal? probably not. SUP Report post Posted January 14 Maybe we should have a thread dedicated to good books for leatherworking! There are so many books out there available on the net, not all necessarily good or worth the price. It's difficult to separate the chaff from the grain. But once one of us actually goes through a book and knows how it is, a comment here means less searching for the rest of us.

The resources topic includes books and other sources for all kinds of things for leather crafting. I think you are right it should have its own area on the forum. Thanks for sharing this book. SUP Report post Posted January 14 (edited) Ohh. I forgot about the resources section. Stupid of me. Will check that now. Thank you for reminding me. A little later - Looked up resources - a rich source, but every thing is found mixed in together. Maybe we need to have subsections? I know that when I search for something using the search engine, I don't always find it easily. Maybe I do something wrong. Northmount Report post Posted January 14 Moved thread to Getting Started: "Hey, we all start somewhere? What kind of tools and supplies do you need? Are there any helpful books? How can you get going now that you have been bitten by The Leather Bug? Post your newbie questions here, and let the more experienced folks help you through the initiation. The only dumb questions are the ones not asked!" A number of the posts here should be in Resources: "Links, periodicals, books, Guilds and other professional organizations, trade show and demonstration announcements go here." These two forums overlap a lot!

It sounds like a great resource for those just starting out in this craft. P rojects like the little dinosaurs and simple wallets can be a great way to learn and develop skills. I am also looking for nursing help, using https://ca.edubirdie.com/nursing-help this time. I will see how things go from here. I will probably post information next time so that I can get help like you. https://www.google.com/search?q=Leathercraft+–+Unit+1+-+Colorado+4-H+Colorado+State+University+https%3A%2F%2Fco4h.colostate.edu+›+projects+›+manuals&oq=Leathercraft+–+Unit+1+-+Colorado+4-H+Colorado+State+University+https%3A%2F%2Fco4h.colostate.edu+›+projects+›+manuals&gs_lcrp=EgZjaHJvbWUyBggAEEUYOdIBCDI2ODNqMGo3qAIAsAIA&sourceid=chrome-mobile&ie=UTF-8 Thank you very much for this.
