Members CitizenKate Posted November 30, 2007 Members Report Posted November 30, 2007 There are lions at a forum? Heheh! There are, now! Your bag makes quite a powerful statement. It's always a pleasure and inspiration to see such originality. It gives me hope that there are infinite possibilities of new styles of leather art that have yet to be created. Kate Quote

Members Ross Posted November 30, 2007 Members Report Posted November 30, 2007 that is some awesome tooling. Quote
vera Posted November 30, 2007 Author Report Posted November 30, 2007 What weight leather did you use ? Hi, craftsman827, I do not know skin weight. We usually look its thickness. For bags we use 2.5-3.0 mm. The bag looks hard, but it easy. It is the order from the student of university for books and notebook. Quote
vera Posted November 30, 2007 Author Report Posted November 30, 2007 that is some awesome tooling. Hi Ross, You have a good site and works. We too have work with Tree of Life. About “some awesome tooling’. Our advantage - we do not depend on tools. We create drawing, a background and the different texture an ordinary knife which is used by shoemakers. We cut, we cut out and we delete leathers part. Our works are not afraid some water because we break leather structure. We do not squeeze out leather and we do not condense it. Each work occupies a lot of time. Any incorrect movement of a hand to correct it is impossible. You will not paste leather on an old place. Work with a thin leather demands attention even more. It is possible to cut a hole. We work hard. Quote
Members CitizenKate Posted December 1, 2007 Members Report Posted December 1, 2007 Ohhhh... do you mean to say all the backgrounds and textures you create are by cutting? Kind of like linoleum carving? (That would explain why, in the back of my mind, when looking at your work, I think "linoleum print".) Think I'm going to go try that! Kate Quote
