Members KatBee Posted August 14, 2024 Members Report Posted August 14, 2024 I have recently acquired this wonderful machine, and am looking for some more bobbins for it. Does anyone have any ideas where I can get any? I currently have two. Thank you. Quote
Members Constabulary Posted August 14, 2024 Members Report Posted August 14, 2024 I´m not 100% sure but could be that Singer 45K bobbins fit - I´d compare the measures. https://www.ebay.de/itm/143603147753 Quote
Members KatBee Posted August 14, 2024 Author Members Report Posted August 14, 2024 They look similar, the one I have seems slightly smaller but it might be worth giving it a go, thank you! Quote
Members Constabulary Posted August 14, 2024 Members Report Posted August 14, 2024 BTW your bobbin winder looks as if it is incomplete and from a different machine. Maybe worth checking the 45K bobbin winders too https://www.ebay.de/itm/156265077932? Quote
Members KatBee Posted August 14, 2024 Author Members Report Posted August 14, 2024 It's quite possible, cheers! Quote

Bob is very knowledgeable . . . I get my cowboy bobbins from him and my Tippmann bobbins from Tipmann. The tipmann bobbins are smaller . . . but in a pinch, I can use them. His number is 866-362-7397 Give Bob the dimensions . . . I'd bet he'll have an answer for you. May God bless, Dwight Edited August 15, 2024 by Northmount changed thimbles to bobbins Quote

Members Matt S Posted August 16, 2024 Members Report Posted August 16, 2024 Beautiful old machine, fairly rare even in the UK and like an honest politician elsewhere. There's a few threads scattered around discussing them on this forum. The bobbin does look about the right shape for a 45K but without anything to scale it off it's hard to tell. My 45K bobbins are 31mm long and 20mm diameter. If your Pilot bobbins are very close to that I would buy a few cheap ones to try gently in the Pilot. Hartley Sewing in Walsall is one of few dealers likely to have much/any knowledge on these things or parts lying around. Quote
Members KatBee Posted October 7, 2024 Author Members Report Posted October 7, 2024 Hi Matt, thank you for your reply, the 45K bobbins seem cheap enough so I might give them a go. I hate running out halfway through a belt! Quote
Members AlZilla Posted October 7, 2024 Members Report Posted October 7, 2024 BUSM (not BUSMC) Pilot. It took a little rabbit trailing to figure out what this one was. British United Shoe Machinery. Interesting old machine but I'm unlikely to ever run across one in America. Quote
