In what order should I apply dye?

Recommended Posts

I can't remember: is it light dye first, then dark, or dark first, then light?

Also, while I'm here, where in the process should I apply antique?

Don Gonzales has a good video of applying antique finish.

I always do my lighter dye 1st,  then I apply the antique gel. Then after antique gel drys I seal it with a sealer.

You should always start with the lighter shade of dye first - remember you can always make it darker but not the other way around

I apply antique after all my dye & oil work is done and a resist has been applied. Then antique and top coat or seal.
