Members DaleksInc Posted September 6, 2024 Members Report Posted September 6, 2024 I can't remember: is it light dye first, then dark, or dark first, then light? Also, while I'm here, where in the process should I apply antique? Quote

Then after antique gel drys I seal it with a sealer. Quote
Members SamB Posted September 7, 2024 Members Report Posted September 7, 2024 (edited) You should always start with the lighter shade of dye first - remember you can always make it darker but not the other way around Edited September 7, 2024 by SamB Typo Quote
Members Cattleman Posted September 8, 2024 Members Report Posted September 8, 2024 I apply antique after all my dye & oil work is done and a resist has been applied. Then antique and top coat or seal. Quote

I doubt that it would pull all of the dye out without staining, but it may be worth experimenting on some scrap. I got kind of a cool ombré effect, but I need to develop my basic techniques before such experimentation. Quote
