slide plate CB3500 machine

Recommended Posts

hello

sewing guru help heeded

CB3500 slide plate - does anyone can tell me which thread size on those 3 holes for fixture?
any dedicated places to order special bolts for it?
apart of "sewing machine bolts" - do these bolts have a special name? what I have to google for?

about the plate - shape like this only? no other versions?

regards

They might also be M5?

On Adlers it's M5, I'm guessing Nakajima/Juki clones "could" be the same if there is any standardization of attachments.

A few Japanese machines (and that's a clone) have some really odd fractional threads so it could be well 11/64-40 like 1hp said.

Depends on what you're attaching name wise for the bolts.  Thumb screws if you're clamping a guide down. Could be a threaded stud, etc for other things like binders.

asking due to even living in imperial/metric country can't find proper screws

mine is smaller than 11/64 - see photo

and another issue -  there is no problem to order this piece of metal - from dealer or ebay. but they all come with no screws and I have no ideas where to order it? I mean - compatible with the plate.
CKPSMS has similar screw 11/64 or near, but no plate.
and I didn't find  such place to buy a set - the plate with screws.
so, no one who selling plate will guaranty me that other "third parties" parts will be compatible with their one. circle closed.

looks like the simplest solution - re-thread holes

I would get some 3.5mm x .6mm thread pitch screws & try them. If they don't fit, buy a 3.5mm x .6mm pitch tap & re-thread them.

Yep, what he said.  Tap them to whatever you can find locally.

Here's a little history on Singer screw sizes. .125 dia is going to be a #5 as in 5-40 UNF or it could be a UNEF thread. As far as I know the Juki machines and clones still utilize the Singer thread sizes. https://www.singersewinginfo.co.uk/screw_threads

the irony is that I was asking and from this seller as well (on aliexpress) - do they hold screws for such plate?
alas, Constabulary needed )
thank you, will try it

many thanks to all - will try those Singer screws or will re-tap the plate

coda

Is that the major or minor diameter you're measuring? Using the sharp edges of your lower jaws it looks like it could be the minor? 3.3mm would be approx minor for M4 thread.  M4 is a real common thread for clamping knobs.

If you do drill/retap use a fine thread, works allot better with thumbscrews.

It's a 6-40 UNF on my plate. Others should be the same.
