yaklady Posted September 13, 2007 Report Posted September 13, 2007 can you find my stamp in this photo? That's a very interesting use of a maker stamp, Kevin. Mine wouldn't look quite right used like that, but I may try it out any way. Nice purse! Kathy Quote All bad yaks make their way to the freezer.
Members Don Posted September 13, 2007 Members Report Posted September 13, 2007 This is my stamp. I decided to use my signature in my stamp. This is the signature I use on my drawings as well. My stamp was made by Harper Manufacturing in Las Vegas and I think they did a great job. It seems to be stamping better the older it gets. Quote
steveb Posted September 27, 2007 Report Posted September 27, 2007 Thanks for the props Johanna. I update my logo's presentation every year - I keep the hammer and mallets logo consistent in all I do - but I produce different treatments around them - and i use these on stickers, business cards, fridge magnets, t-shirts and sweatshirts - some of that crap I sell (enough to pay for the effort), honestly, most of it I give away to my friends and good repeat customers of which I have a few I like switching it up and my customers really like getting some schwag along with their custom on-off leather piece..kind of seals the deal and appears professinal...at least thats what Ive been told Quote
Members gunfighter48 Posted October 6, 2007 Members Report Posted October 6, 2007 (edited) I ordered my maker stamp from Grey Ghost Graphics on the morning of 10/4 and it came by priority mail today 10/6!!!!!! Now that's great service and the stamp is first rate. Makes a great impresion in leather. Mine was $55 plus postage and Jeff is great to deal with. Contributing Member Jordan Posted October 6, 2007 Contributing Member Report Posted October 6, 2007 very good marketing idea steve, I am kicking around the same type of idea when I get up and running, I was thinking along the lines of a small bottle of leather care solution or greased lightning holster treatment (I think thats the name), kind of like those sample bottles of stuff at hotels. Maybe a small logo keychain or bottle opener on a little snap chain(got one of those with a pair of boots I bought once). I do think people appreciate a small token with a purchase, psychologically I think it gives them warm fuzzies and repeat business is a goal afterall. Your logo is great and very condusive to stickers and patches I have seen your t's around town occasionally. Quote
Ambassador Luke Hatley Posted October 6, 2007 Ambassador Report Posted October 6, 2007 Gunfighter 48, when you ordered your stamp from Grey Ghost did you send to him a line drawing to make your stamp ? Quote Luke
Contributing Member Regis Posted October 6, 2007 Contributing Member Report Posted October 6, 2007 Luke, I had 2 sizes made by Jeff at Grey Ghost. He uses CorelDraw so I sent him both the Corel and jpg files. If you send a dfx, plt, or other type, you may want to also send a jpg so you both see the same thing. I did learn that it is NOT a good idea to put much on the stamp. I created my and it looked great on that 18" monitor. Jeff cautioned me that it wouldn't work as small as I wanted so I bumped them up some. End result was that Jeff made beautiful stamps but, mine are a bit busy. When I get back home, I post picture so you can see what is too much. Regis Quote God, Family, and Country (although liberals are attempting to destroy these in the USA)

Members Romey Posted October 7, 2007 Members Report Posted October 7, 2007 (edited) Up till a couple years ago I didnt stamp my knives or sheaths untill a very prominant collector emailed me saying my work was very good and had been mentioned amoung other collectors and the one main reason what turned them off was lack of makers mark. At the time I didnt think the elk cared when I was skinning him with but the point was taken , if your proud of your work MARK IT. Your fellow pears may beable to tell its your work but we arent in the buisness to impress peers as uch as the public that buys our work. After I started stamping I was amazed at the amount of customers who came saying they had seen my work and the mark, got online and looked it up wanting to purchase. It is to me anyway, a form of advertising AND pride. I have several marks, one for Knives, one for blacksmithing and one for bits and spurs which is simply my brand. Here is my knife logo. And what it looks like on steel, A custom forging hammer I make. Edited October 7, 2007 by Romey Quote Romey Cowboy inc highcountryknives
