Members TomE Posted January 12 Members Report Posted January 12 Happy with Amann Serafil thread from @CowboyBob at Toledo Industrial Sewing Machine. It feeds well through my Cobra Class 26 and is a good color match (color #7766) for this vintage Louis Vuitton purse. Lots of colors to choose from besides my usual brown and black thread for horse tack. Made a new shoulder strap for this old purse and considering making other items in a brown/yellow color scheme. Members DieselTech Posted January 12 Members Report Posted January 12 Nice work. Looks great. Better than Louis Vutton could ever make. I got some of that thread but I have not tried it yet in my class 26 Quote

I am woefully deficient in dyeing techniques bc I mostly use drum dyed leather. Ended up dip dyeing in 10% Fiebings dark brown Pro Dye. Quote
Members BlackDragon Posted January 13 Members Report Posted January 13 Great job! Color matching can be pretty difficult especially when you don't do it often. I went to art school in the early 90's and I still mess it up lol. Quote
Members Mulesaw Posted 23 hours ago Members Report Posted 23 hours ago Great job, very consistent sewing along the edge! Amann Serafil is my main thread for all sewing machine jobs, for hand sewing I use Amann Serabraid. I once checked Amanns homepage, they make an incredible range of various threads, from anti flammable to UV (sunlight) resistant. Brgds Jonas Quote

The old strap was considerably lighter color than the chapes, and it was dry rotted. I'm thinking it wasn't original equipment. The client bought the purse used as a Christmas present. He was happy with the color. 7 hours ago, Mulesaw said: Great job, very consistent sewing along the edge! I did sew by hand to complete both ends of the stitch lines. I will look into the Serabraid. Quote
