That old flap holster is 50 years old or so, and the flap needs to flex, so it needed a good dose of NFO. Yup, they do. You can clean and reoil an oil finished holster. But once sealed there is no more of that lol. Different styles for different uses. I think what you did is great and will maintain the leather well Quote
Contributing Member Samalan Posted Monday at 05:55 PM Contributing Member Report Posted Monday at 05:55 PM As far as the left and right-hand thing, what I say is shut up and shoot. Maintaining a leather holster is important. This is A re -stitched Japanese Nambu World War II holster that needed new stitching on the flap. I stitched it using embalmer's thread, and it matched perfectly. maintaining leather. Quote
Contributing Member Samalan Posted Monday at 06:00 PM Contributing Member Report Posted Monday at 06:00 PM Nice Job on those holsters, Chuck. I don't think I would do them any differently. Quote
Members DoogMeister Posted Monday at 06:34 PM Members Report Posted Monday at 06:34 PM I do pretty much the same thing. My go-to hunting sidearm is a Ruger blackhawk .45 Colt that I've had well over 40 years. Part of taking care of hunting gear after season is treating that holster. Quote
