The best place to get (purse) patterns is Ebay.

I dont know about tooling patterns but for over all purse designs Joanns has a huge selection of patterns for purses and grab bags. Now most of these may need some adjustments for leather use but its a start.

I use Ebay to get the model templates so to speak...The carving pattern to me is more or less useless. There is a few of them up there in the "leathercraft" section. Now, be prepared to pay anything from $15 to $75 for them depending on their uniqueness, the most I paid for one set is close to $50, I and some more people really wanted that one.

This is great for toote bags (hope I spelled that one right) but for "real purses" you need the real patterns for them, it's more tricky than one might exspect.

My wife has been wanting me to make her a purse and we've had a tough time finding a pattern too. I've been thinking about taking apart one of her old purses and using it for the pattern. I'm not to sure how well it will work but I think I'm going to give it a try.

If you can twist Bruce Johnson's arm, he is here on the forum, he can provide a book that he done on purse patterns. He may not like that I said that but it is a great book of purse patterns, I feel he should publish. If you hound him I bet he would post a couple here.

What do you say Bruce?

Bruce:

You can self publish and print on your home printer. Print them only when there are orders. I will buy one if you do.
