Contributing Member UKRay Posted February 21, 2009 Contributing Member Report Posted February 21, 2009 I have kept this to myself until now, but I'm absolutely sick of trying to get the guys at Proleptic to send me out my magazine subscription. I paid out quite a considerable amount of money for an international subscription and have had nothing but promises, confusion and curt emails (from a person called Michele who is definitely to be avoided at all costs). If I were you guys I wouldn't touch this offer and what ever you do don't send them any money. I also ordered some workshop manuals for my Singer machines and they haven't shown up either - although I did get an envelope with some blank paper in it... Go figure! The sad thing is that the magazine is excellent. It is interesting and completely 'on-topic' for me. They sent me out a trial copy and I enjoyed it so much I happily shelled out the money. What a mistake! I can't imagine that this is a scam as I have seen the magazine and Johanna says the guy is okay, but, y'know what, it definitely feels like a scam! Quote

I can't believe these guys... maybe I am being unreasonable and this is simply the way they do business but if I take money for leathergoods I expect to deliver the goods - is there any difference here? Should I just be patient and wait? Quote

After reading these posts, I'm seriously wondering if I want to subscribe with a company that so disfunctional. Sending renewal cards to people who haven't even received the magazine yet? Sending out envelopes full of blank papers? Ignoring numerous requests for sample magazines? Yeah, that seems like a recipe for failure to me. It sounds like the magazine itself is a good product, but the distribution and support staff seem to be woefully incompetent. Maybe if someone sent this thread to the owners of the company they could shake things up a bit and get these problems fixed. Quote

I am figuring Santa must be in on the delivery for everyone to get them this close together, I can't see the postal service being that efficient. Usually my magazines show up about a week after most everybody else. I have subscribed for several years. In that time he has moved a few times and had some good and bad employees. He just moved again. I see he is in Maine now, was in Virginia last I think. Pretty much a one man show, and is a pretty decent source of information and advertising. One thing I notice is that there is no real pattern to getting them. I have gotten two separate month's issues in the same week, and gone almost two months with nothing. Quote
