Members Vikti Posted April 8, 2009 Members Report Posted April 8, 2009 I play the Irish whistle, ocarina and every so often a bamboo flute. Sometimes I swipe my boys sax from him for a while when the mood strikes. Damon Quote
Contributing Member UKRay Posted April 8, 2009 Author Contributing Member Report Posted April 8, 2009 You might be amazed how quickly it comes back to you. I played a tenor horn (very badly) when I was a kid - I'd bet my neighbour is praying that doesn't come back to me... (I was truly dreadful!) Members CitizenKate Posted April 9, 2009 Members Report Posted April 9, 2009 I played a tenor horn (very badly) when I was a kid - I'd bet my neighbour is praying that doesn't come back to me... (I was truly dreadful!) LOL Don't feel too bad about that. I played one for a semester in brass ensemble. I loved how easy it was to nail those high notes, but it's a difficult instrument to play, more temperamental than a French horn. I was constantly having to bend pitches to stay in tune, and with all that bending, I was fracking a lot. Arrgggggh! That was enough to motivate me to buy my own euphonium, rather than continue to be subject to play what was available from the university loaners. Kate Quote
Members HarryB Posted April 9, 2009 Members Report Posted April 9, 2009 Have played the pinanner since I was 5 (yes, they had pianos that long ago) and played trombone in high school band and keyboards in "garage bands" during high school. Now I mostly play the stereo. Quote
Members mulefool Posted April 9, 2009 Members Report Posted April 9, 2009 I made extra money playing in various bluegrass bands in the 80's. I play guitar and bass fiddle. Haven't really played much for about 10 years. I pulled out the old Martin the other day since we were going to a party with some other musicians and I wanted to see how rusty I was. Yikes, those steel strings are kind of rough when you don't have your callouses anymore. Chris Quote www.horseandmulegear.com

Members phillipsimsleatherwork Posted May 18, 2009 Members Report Posted May 18, 2009 I have played guitar for about 12 years, piano and sang since about 4 yrs old, mandolin, fiddle, harmonica and drums. I play mostly bluegrass due to the fact that my hometown (Glen Rose, Tx.) is a huge bluegrass town. They have festivals there every year. I have played in a few rock bands and am trying to get together a full bluegrass band now. blah blah blah... MUSICIAN/LEATHERWORKER TIP I have seen leather pickguards for electric guitars on the internet but had never seen one for an acoustic. I did one for a "cheapie" acoustic I have with a sheridan pattern on it and it turned out amazing. I have had alot of people interested. Just giving you an idea. Phillip Sims Quote
Members badger Posted May 18, 2009 Members Report Posted May 18, 2009 I have a habit of buying beautiful, expensive guitars and being a truly awful player. Having thought about it though, I feel a bit better. I used to be appalling, now I'm simply bad. That's an improvement, right? Badger Quote
