i am looking for a punch to make 6mm rectangles

like the ones in the strap pictured.

if all else fails, get a piece of small dia steel tube something like brake pipe square the end off sharpen it and then drive the tang of a file into it, use the end grain of a block of wood so you don't damage the edge a new end can be made very quickly when it becomes blunt, use an awl to push the wad's out regularly so they don't pack the tube 'cos the end your hitting will distort.

cheers

OSBOURN MAKES A 1/4" BAG PUNCH THAT MIGHT WORK FOR YOU. IT WOULD BE EASY TO GET RATHER THAN

HAVING ONE MADE.

you might also look at Home Depot or similar place for what they call a "mortising bit", used to cut square holes in wood, for a mortise and tenon joint. No idea if they will have the size you need ...

tried the 1/4 bag punch results were ok but not what i am looking for. i e-mail some other makers who had better holes and they seem to have had theirs custom made.

anybody know someone who could make a 2x6mm rectangle punch, i asked a local blacksmith but he said no hehe.

maybe try a machine shop instead of a blacksmith.

Just my two cents.

I wonder if something like this might work?

Fiskars Single Hole Punch - 1/4 Rectangle

http://www.fiskarscr...-rectangle.aspx

not sure it would be able to handle 5-6mm thick leather though, i have tried mahcine shops, tool and die shops, tool shops just haven't found one willing to make it yet. with nothing in my area having to do everything via phone or e-mail is time consuming. was just hoping for an easier.

thanks for everybodies help

cory
