TomSwede Posted April 28, 2008 Report Posted April 28, 2008 Nice stuff Gremlin! Those look like some awsome fun to do. Nice solution with the D-rings to keep the strap, haven't seen them around here in a proper size for bracers except plastic ones. Nice edges, looks professional! Members Gremlin Posted April 28, 2008 Author Members Report Posted April 28, 2008 Thanks Tom. Those small d-rings are from Leather Factory. As for the edges, I'm kinda anal about burnishing all exposed edges. Quote Gremlin's Custom Leather Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada
TomSwede Posted April 28, 2008 Report Posted April 28, 2008 Me to, sorta'. I'm not very good at it but learning more and more but so far I prefer to do the mexican round braid to edge burnishing. The skull bracer was just wet polished edges whilst tooling it since I was so anal with the painting on this one I couldn't give more time to it. That doesn't show much when antiquing comes on but I have to practice with the brush and spirits. Members Gremlin Posted April 29, 2008 Author Members Report Posted April 29, 2008 Thanks. LOL, nope, nothing else Ken. At least not yet. Thinking thru the mechanics of articulation for sholders and knees tho. Quote Gremlin's Custom Leather Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada
Members Trauma Posted July 8, 2008 Members Report Posted July 8, 2008 Thanks. LOL, nope, nothing else Ken. At least not yet. Thinking thru the mechanics of articulation for sholders and knees tho. I've had some mild success putting a piece of card between the pieces of leather when hammering the rivet. Same technique is used for peening rivets in plate armour. It gives the leather a bit of play and worked really well for a pair of gauntlets i made with 2mm leather. Quote "Anyone who has never made a mistake has never tried anything new." - Albert Einstein
