TomSwede Report post Posted April 28, 2008 Nice stuff Gremlin! Those look like some awsome fun to do. Nice solution with the D-rings to keep the strap, haven't seen them around here in a proper size for bracers except plastic ones. Nice edges, looks professional! Gremlin Report post Posted April 28, 2008 Thanks Tom. Those small d-rings are from Leather Factory. As for the edges, I'm kinda anal about burnishing all exposed edges.
TomSwede Report post Posted April 28, 2008 Me to, sorta'. I'm not very good at it but learning more and more but so far I prefer to do the mexican round braid to edge burnishing. The skull bracer was just wet polished edges whilst tooling it since I was so anal with the painting on this one I couldn't give more time to it. That doesn't show much when antiquing comes on but I have to practice with the brush and spirits. Tom

Beaverslayer Report post Posted April 29, 2008 Curtis, your just a leather wizard, those look like you've been making them for years, and just letting us know about it now. Anything else you've not been sharing with us??????? LOL Ken
Gremlin Report post Posted April 29, 2008 Thanks. LOL, nope, nothing else Ken. At least not yet. Thinking thru the mechanics of articulation for sholders and knees tho.
Trauma Report post Posted July 8, 2008 Thanks. LOL, nope, nothing else Ken. At least not yet. Thinking thru the mechanics of articulation for sholders and knees tho. I've had some mild success putting a piece of card between the pieces of leather when hammering the rivet. Same technique is used for peening rivets in plate armour. It gives the leather a bit of play and worked really well for a pair of gauntlets i made with 2mm leather.
