Here is a rope bag I just finished. Cowhide gussets and inlay on the back panel. The interior is fully lined with 1000 Denier PVC coated nylon. All comments and critiques welcome, of course....

Really nice !! He is going to be real proud of his bag.

I do have a question. I noticed that all of your flowers and most other tooler's always have a odd number of petals. Is their a reason for that ?

Actually, odd numbers in any design are more aesthetically pleasing than even numbers. More times than not in nature, you will see more odds than evens....just start looking with that in mind and you will see it. Also, when designing artwork one wants to never center a design perfectly....sure there are exceptions to every rule, but generally speaking this is what you want. Again, look around and you will motice that. Also, in a design you want the works of art and their elements to visually make you eye scan the project in a circle pattern. Usually this is all subliminal in the minds of those viewing the art work. Hey I did remember a little bit of Art 101 in college.

Beautifal work BTW!

Iam trying to learn to make a rope bag out of leather can you tell me what leather weight you use and if you sew with a machine and what kind or is it hand stitched . I recently got your book western floral designs and my friends have noticed an improvement on my projects I know I have a lot to learn but I am willing i hope you can give me some advise on this, yup Iam swinging for the fence.

El Hermano, I use 7/8 oz leather and I add a stiffener (high impact styrene) to give it more rigidity. I sew everything it all with an Adler 205-370 with 138 weight thread.

It's good to see you post again.

I have been wondering where all the greats have gotten off to.

Great job, as usual.

You do make some mighty fine rope bags.

Great job!! Two questions: What is the diameter and may I be so crass as to ask how much?
