is there a different section where this can be discussed? ;) actually i read your leatherwork specialty so i have my answer. that is basically the reason i started into the leatherwork. hubby thought it would be a good way to make money. we have tried a few pieces and i did a carving in a neck piece. i am terrified of using the swivel knive so i do it without for now.i know i can't get the awesome effect without it, but i have to wait till i am comfortable with it. i really enjoy working with leather and hope to get better before my wonderful family's genetic ailments hit me..such as arthritis :( i have opened a small store...lingerie, adult novelties and of course my leatherwork. it is great because i get to work on the leather on my slow days. i can't say enough how thrilled i am that i tripped onto this site! you guys are great, i'm sure i will get better with the help from all of you. i plan on doing my flogger within the next 2 days...i will put up the pic when i finish...good or bad. again..thanks so much!

glad to have you aboard then! this is a great, friendly site for learning about pretty much everything leather related. good luck with the store venture too! you'll get over the swivel knife fear, I promise. it took me 13 years of leatherworking professionally with me usual goodies before I tried tooling and molding. thanks to this site, I gained the confidence to add a new addiction, um... I mean aspect of leatherworking. *L* to get into the adult section just send johanna a message about it. looking forward to seeing your work, since we all looove pics around here! if there's a tandy near you, check and see if they have classes. most, if not all, do have little classes that you can take on things like tooling, lacing etc. and of course, if you have any questions about anything, feel free to ask here. someone will be able to answer it. it may take a day or 2 sometimes, but somebody will get to it. :)

glad ya found it useful and thanks for the work praise! one of the good things about this way is that each section doesn't take that long to do, so you can do a part, come back later, do another bit and before ya know it's finished.

well...my piece has been sitting on my counter since october!...looks awesome, followed the tutorial...really nice..black and blue handle...blue tails...pretty. all suede. she sits there because i can't do the turks head :ranting2: i have read and re read the tutorial but to no avail...it actually stings when i see it sitting there waiting for me to finish her off. i haven't attempted it since december. funny how an unfinished project nags at you even when you aren't thinking about it. i will somehow dig up the patience and try and try and try......again...WHEN i do get it done i will post a pic. can't say enough about this community...i'm glad to be a part of it. :You_Rock_Emoticon:

Have you tried this site? Excellent tutorial on a 6 bight Turk's head. Might give you a different way

of looking at the construction.
