Members lightningad Posted May 24, 2013 Members Report Posted May 24, 2013 (edited) After seeing my first satchel a month back, my friend Andie asked me to make two identical bags for her and her twin sisters upcoming birthday. Its taken me a bit longer than i expected, but the learning process has been great fun, and i now have a much clearer idea of what to do on future bag projects. Andie has just seen the finished bags and is blown away by them. I'd love to hear your thoughts and suggestions for improvements. Edited May 24, 2013 by lightningad Quote
Members Madadh Posted May 24, 2013 Members Report Posted May 24, 2013 Nicely done. I like the pouches on the sides. Quote
Members lightningad Posted May 24, 2013 Author Members Report Posted May 24, 2013 thanks - i've always felt traditional satchels look a bit 2 dimensional, and thats why i made better use of the real estate on the sides! I think it makes a nice contemporary addition to a traditional design. Quote

Members DoubleC Posted May 24, 2013 Members Report Posted May 24, 2013 I absolutely adore the stick girls on the front. I used that on an advertisement on mine and it looked so neat. I think they are beautiful bags. Cheryl Quote

Members BlackRivet Posted May 27, 2013 Members Report Posted May 27, 2013 Nicely done. Don't you love the feeling of trying to make something for the first time? We learn so much. Your bags turned out wonderfully! Quote
Members lightningad Posted May 27, 2013 Author Members Report Posted May 27, 2013 thanks - i do enjoy that feeling, but i think i like the feeling of making the second one more, because by then you have leaned from all the mistakes on the first, and hopefully have something with a lot less errors and fudges! I just wish my stitching was as neat on the rear side as it is on the front (theres a reason i havent posted the rear photos!)..i stilll think i have a long way to go in getting near perfect stitching - and its probably all down to better awl control!
