Members mworthan Posted October 18, 2013 Members Report Posted October 18, 2013 (edited) For Sale - I have a Campbell Bosworth Lockstitch machine purchased from Campbell Bosworth about 7 years ago. I comes complete with the stand, bobbin winder, assorted tools and extra pulleys, just as it shipped from CB when I purchased it new. I have sewn very little on it. I have used 1 spool of thread since I bought it. Works perfectly and is oiled every time it was used, again very seldom. I will post pictures later, but has been kept in conditioned shop since my purchase and wanted to get it out here if folks are interested. Since the questions will be asked, I am selling because I don't have the time to do this anymore, own a small machine and can use that for what little I do. I live in Georgia and would probably require that you pick it up. Shipping would be a serious chore and I cannot deliver. I would rather deal face to face. I paid $6197.00 new. I am asking $5200. Make me an offer. Edited October 18, 2013 by mworthan

Members mworthan Posted October 23, 2013 Author Members Report Posted October 23, 2013 Folks. Tell me what its worth. Maybe I'm crazy... just know they ain't cheap.
Members RoyalLeatherDesigns Posted October 23, 2013 Members Report Posted October 23, 2013 When I seen the first price I thought it was too much but now this explains why you priced it like that. I think your machine is worth every penny I love these Campbell's Im also glad you asked for advise let me tell you what I think. Your machine is worth more than any others here selling right now because of the fact that it came rebuilt from Campbell in Texas not too long ago. I can tell it was because you mentioned it and it is properly painted by them with that blue color they use. As far as price there are a lot of variables that affect the price. I have seen machines sell for 800 and as much as 4k for a used Campbell but its pretty rare when someone pays 4k for a machine that is used. People will rather buy a 441 clone with al l the bells an d whistles for 2695 and that's delivered to you. You might be able to sell your machine for 3500 but your still up against the clone. The 441 is a much more versatile machine that can sew various textiles while the Campbell is limited to leather. If I were you I'd price the machine at 3500 and I bet it will sell I don't know if you want to go this low but I think you'd have a good chance of selling it, remember the buyer has to still pay for shipping. That can cost anywhere from 300-500 dollars that puts your machine at 4k again. Think about all the info I have given you re price your machine and I hope it sells. This week I had access to 8 Campbell, Randall's, Landis 3 all ranging from 800-3000 the ones selling for 3k were rebuilt as well and sold by gentlemen that have been doing this for years. The Randall's were mostly at around 800-1200 and the Landis 3 from 2-3k so your competing with lots of other people too so price it competitively or you might just want too keep it. Best of luck! Ralph
Members mworthan Posted October 24, 2013 Author Members Report Posted October 24, 2013 thanks. think i will keep it. stitches to pretty to give it away
electrathon Posted October 24, 2013 Report Posted October 24, 2013 Out of my league, but it sure is pretty.
Members truenorth Posted October 24, 2013 Members Report Posted October 24, 2013 Funny how on another post there was interest on a "old" un recon machine at over 3k and some think that this one is a "bit" much where its basically brand new! no comparison to any clone or non recon machine price seems fair in my opinion!please everyone this is just my 2 red cents!
Members RoyalLeatherDesigns Posted October 24, 2013 Members Report Posted October 24, 2013 I agree with you 100% that the machine is worth what he's asking for but he's going to have a very hard time selling the machine because most people would rather buy a brand new clone for much less. These are the nicest machines and in no way did I mean to question the machines quality or anything similar to that. If these machines have been around for 100 years its because they can produce a beautiful stitch that no needle feed machine can copy plus it will last you a lifetime. The fact is that he's trying to sell the machine. If you were referring to the Cyclone the seller and I did not strike a deal he is set on his price and I respect that, the seller here asked for the publics opinion and I gave mine. Would you pay 4200 for this machine? It has also been on here for only a couple days it takes time to sell a machine this nice. Most people want to spend a lot less and fix it and clean it up themselves. These machines sell new for 5800 a head plus 200 for a work gauge, 600 for a stand, taxes, shipping at the end you end up paying close to 7k for the machine. I would rather keep my machine that let someone have it for 3500 these days people don't appreciate the value of these needle and awl machines value I do, I like these machines a lot but I just bought a couple of them. If yours would of been available when I first needed a machine I would have bought it no questions asked for 4200-4800 let it sit for a while it seems like you thought it would sell fast but things take time. I apologize if anything I said came out wrong, offending or depreciating your machines value I certainly did not mean to do that. Best of luck list it on Craigslist but it will take time. God Bless! Ralph
Members Singermania Posted October 24, 2013 Members Report Posted October 24, 2013 I agree with Ralph, frankly I think these machines are worth really really good money, however with cheap clones about at $2700 with good parts availability, that what most people are going for now.

Of course you are right, but it is a matter of rather you want the very best at a reasonable price, or rather you want a real good machine that is less money. I cannot afford the machine or I would have one like it. If nothing else for the COOL factor. I use a Cobra class 4, have had two of them, and am completely satisfied with it and the job it does. Shorter learning curve and a bit easier to work on if it does develop a problem. Still the higher end hook and awl machines are considered by the masters of saddlemakers I know to be the very best stitcher there is. Ken
