Hi Dingus,

you can buy the parts you need for a leather setup on http://www.kwokhing.com/pfaff/. You could also lowering your feed dog in level with the needle plate, that will reduce the markings. With smooth feed dog and feet's the needle does most of the feeding on a triple feed leather machine anyway.

Hi Dingus, what i did was loosened the two screws on the right hand side of the back rod at the top to take out the bushings to clean them and putting them back is when i adjusted the back presser foot with the front one. because the back foot was only lifting up about 1mm or so. thats the rod that is connected to your presser feet, it has a winged nut on the right hand side. so before you loosen make some kind of mark so as you can get back to the same place as before. i loosened the screws then turned the balance wheel until the front foot was halfway up then pushed the back foot to the same hight and then tightened the screws again. now the back foot and front lift even.i dont know if that is the correct way to adjust it but seeing as i had it all dismantled i had no option. in that adjustment manual of the new ones it is screw 4. by the way i cant get mine to lift 7mm like it says in that manual??

I see the two screws way over on the right near the big wing nut is them the two you loosened or is it the two over to the left about 4 inchs ?

A picture would sure help ?

Thanks for the reply i never got much help for weeks on here. unless you own and buy a +$2000 Machine like Cowboy or one of them other new expensive machines it seems you dont get alot of replys so i just want to say thanks for takeing the time to reply (:

I replyed to your post to ^ but it ended up inside the quate somehow Jimi

Oh, sorry dingus i didnt see your reply. i loosened the ones near the wing nut but it dosent matter if you loosen the ones on theother side because it is on the same rod.

Most 335 machines have around 15 mm of foot lift. And can sew 6mm thick any thicker and they don't feed due to the walking feet only raise so far while lowered in to sewing position or that's what the spec. On the Yamata fy335a that's what I have I got mine for lighter weight leather . Like wallets and hand bags.  I use a Tipman boss for holsters it will sew 3/4 inch thick leather but it's manual not powered by electric.  There are machines that will sew heavy-duty items but they are pricey. Cobra makes a nice machine for holsters that's electric. I'm new to the 335 myself but have done leather work for 30 years.

You do realise you have responded to a 10 year old post? As for the 15mm lift, the post is referring to the old casting 335 and I can assure you it doesn't have 15mm lift.

Machines wot I have - Singer 51W59; Singer 331K4; Seiko STH-8BLD; Pfaff 335; CB4500.

Chinese shoe patcher; Singer 201K (old hand crank)

Well what's the harm in replying to a 10 yr old post? lol

Is there a difference between the old and new boxy looking 335 in foot lift? I always just assumed it was the same machine more or less, just bloated and boxy w/bobbin winder to look more modern and sophisticated.

The "newer" models have better foot lift/clearance than the older ones, probably a more useful machine overall.....but the old ones have character! (I have to say that 'cos I have one ).

The H2 had 7mm of lift, earlier H3 was 11mm lift,    H4 and white 335 pfaff have 14mm lift.  Your 17/01 is a binder 335.  Need pics of the machine.
