Members danhux Posted January 2, 2015 Members Report Posted January 2, 2015 Can anyone tell me what this tool is called? I've looked around different online leather tool shops and can't seem to find it. It would be easier if I knew what it was officially called. I like the edge it produces, I just don't know what to call it. Beveler, creaser and "magic edge tool" don't seem to show this tool in any google search. Thanks in advance. Dan Quote
JAM Posted January 2, 2015 Report Posted January 2, 2015 I don't know what it's called, but I sure like the edge it makes! Julia Quote
electrathon Posted January 2, 2015 Report Posted January 2, 2015 Shoe making tool. Not sure of the name. Quote
Members chrstn53 Posted January 2, 2015 Members Report Posted January 2, 2015 I think the official name for the tool is a single line layer creaser, but I'm not a 100% sure. I have a couple that I use occasionally when i want to dress up the edges. Quote
raysouth Posted January 2, 2015 Report Posted January 2, 2015 Very nice and interesting tool. Would love to have one in my shop. Always enjoy new and interesting tools, especially if I can create an other then normal look. Let me know if you ever learn where they might be sold. God Bless. Ray Quote
Members danhux Posted January 2, 2015 Author Members Report Posted January 2, 2015 I don't know what it's called, but I sure like the edge it makes! Julia I see the edge it makes on all kinds of leather products on "instagram", finally found a picture with tool in it, but the person only types in a Asian language. When I open the page in Chrome and translate the language, the name of the tool isn't there. Quote
Northmount Posted January 2, 2015 Report Posted January 2, 2015 post the link and maybe someone here will be able to help further with defining it or a better translation. Tom Quote

Members Xenophon Posted January 11, 2015 Members Report Posted January 11, 2015 (edited) Hi Dan, i've found it.... through my broken understanding of Cantonese/Mandarin, the user on Instagram stated that he bought it from Taobao (china's equivalent of eBay) Here's a link to what i've searched on TaoBao. http://item.taobao.com/item.htm?spm=a230r.1.14.55.DVjeGw&id=38915871578&ns=1&abbucket=12#detail Here's another version: http://item.taobao.com/item.htm?spm=a230r.1.14.41.DVjeGw&id=42999710192&ns=1&abbucket=12#detail What you would like to type in the search box is: 边线器 Which translates to (Literal translation) 'Side Line Tool' and is pronounced as Bien Sian Ji. I've not bought from TaoBao before but perhaps i may give it a try and see how it goes. Cheers, Frederick Update: 押捻 in the first link is the one you are looking for, it comes in 2.0mm, 2.5mm, 3.0mm, 4.0mm and 5.0mm. 押 (Pronounced as "Ya") is to ''PRESS'' down, and as you would know the next would be the double pronged version which is under 溝捻 溝 (Pronounced as "Neah") is to "Pinch". If there's anything else, feel free to ask. Happy crafting! Edited January 11, 2015 by Xenophon Quote
Moderator bruce johnson Posted January 11, 2015 Moderator Report Posted January 11, 2015 I missed this thread earlier. I have made these from large round and layer single line creasers that have been worn on the creasing leg. I have done a few other things with old creasers too. I have a few out right now for feedback that have a beadline in the edge and a bevel to the inside of the bead. Quote
