Here's a couple belts I just finished. They are tooled on 7-8 oz HO leather, split to approx 5 oz, then lined with 5-6 oz HO. I used Fiebings Cordovan spirit dye and Fiebings Lt Brown antique, then finished with Neat-Lac. They are sewn with Rice #99 white thread at 9 stitches per inch.

The lining is finger carved and finished with Tan-Kote. I designed the three piece buckle set and had it made by Red Bluff Buckles is NM. As always, all comments and critiques ae welcome!

Great looking belts Bob. I especially like the first one. I love the flower and that's a great flower center. Really nice.

Man, those look great! What did you use for the background, if you don't mind my asking?

Thanks leather1214,

I trace the center line so that the main cuts are all fairly uniform in size...the rest of the cuts are freehand.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

Thanks Josh!

They're not masterpieces, but I appreciate you saying so!

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Thanks Troy,

I really appreciate your comments. I wanted a flower that kind of fit the Sheridan mold that didn't take so long to cut. Flower center is Barry's.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Thanks Nick,

The background is done with a set of Barry Kings #25 bargrounders.

Great work Hidepounder,

Great edge work. Do you edge both sides with the same size edger? Did you burnish first, then spirt dye the edge? They look really good.

Thanks Steve...I usually edge with the same size edger, but not always. I line everything I make and there are occasions when I'll use a different size on the lining side. And yes, I burnish first, then spirit dye, then burnish again. Here's another example of my burnished edge...

Hi There,

I just love your knife cuts on the inside, what a beautiful touch.

Your tooling is outstanding.

I'm going to Wickenburg and I'm taking the swivel knife class, I hope I can

get an idea of how to do your inside designs.

Thanks for sharing,

Yes, Al Gould, I'm really excited. I'm staying with some friends at Horspitality RV park.

I have girlfriends staying the same week and they are bringing their horses.

I'm also looking foward to talking to Barry King, and buying more tools from him.

Hope our paths cross!!

I'm sure they will! Last year, Al had me bring in a rope bag I had just finished to show his class. He's a great guy!

Bobby,

I love those puffed flower centers notworthy.gif

Excellent job as always. Do you see any problem with 7/8 oz lined with 3/4 oz "finger carved" ?
