351C Report post Posted November 3, 2015 I am wanting to make a couple of belts for Christmas gifts and was wondering what people thought of the following construction methods. I am planning to use 8-9oz bridal leather with a 4-5oz veg tanned liner stitched all the way around at 6 stitches per inch. Will this be too thick, thick enough, and is the leather selection correct for a semi dress casual belt? Thanks
LeatherLegion Report post Posted November 3, 2015 For a semi-dress belt I would say a total of 10oz should be more the enough
351C Report post Posted November 3, 2015 Would you still recommend double layered just lighter layers? Also is the bridal outer and veg tan liner a good combo?
Dwight Report post Posted November 3, 2015 Because leather is never "exact" in measurements, . . . for a casual / dress belt, . . . I usually hit for a .150 to .180 belt, . . . go on up to .230 / .240 for a CCW belt, . . . for a really big guy. Personally, . . . I prefer to do both veggie tan, . . . inner and outer, . . . but that is just the way I do it. May God bless, Dwight
351C Report post Posted November 4, 2015 Thanks for reply. I have been reading mixed reviews of using the bridal and veg tanned.
