Members Ntx Posted November 4, 2015 Members Report Posted November 4, 2015 (edited) I am making these ribbons for my wife, she is the caretaker of a horse boarding and training facility and she organized this (her first) trail competition and it is taking place this weekend (yes I know Halloween was last weekend) so time is not on my side, I want it to go well and wanted to make some nice ribbons. I was happy to be almost complete tonight and then ran into this. How to securely attach these center buttons to the bow. I know I could glue it but there is very little surface area and I have already applied saddle lac to waterproof the colored portion and bee natural RTC to the buttons so I don't think the glue would adhere very well even if I scuffed it with so little to hang on to and the bows are somewhat ... Springy ... For lack of a better word so the glue would have constant pressure. I know this might be a stretch, but has anyone done anything like these before and might have a suggestion? I don't want a center piece popping out. Edited November 4, 2015 by Ntx Quote
Members DS STRAPS Posted November 4, 2015 Members Report Posted November 4, 2015 just looking at it, is it possible to use brown thread and conceal it the eye and mouth area and attach it to the ring that is on the back side or even stitch it in to the ribbon portion Quote
dirtclod Posted November 5, 2015 Report Posted November 5, 2015 (edited) Glue plugs to the back of the punkin till they even or close to even on the back, put glue on the edge of the plug then glue them to the rosett. Or you could make the plugs longer where the will be past the back of the ribbon and drill 2 holes like a + sign and run the wire through to where it will will be past and it should hold hold it in. Might work. Edited November 5, 2015 by dirtclod Quote
Members Colt W Knight Posted November 5, 2015 Members Report Posted November 5, 2015 Excellent idea for the ribbons Quote
Members MonicaJacobson Posted November 5, 2015 Members Report Posted November 5, 2015 I love the ribbons. + 1 on Colt's idea. It seems the cleanest, as long as your glue bond is sturdy. As a side note, I grew up just outside of Springtown - my grandparents are still there, and my parents live about fifteen minutes out. Quote
