Pip Posted January 13, 2009 Report Posted January 13, 2009 What do you use to seal the surface, your colours are always soooo vibrant, is it just that your sooo talented (which of course is the case) or do you have a secret finish I have tried resoline and didn't like it, streaky and fiddly for my fat man hands, carnuba wax seems to take off some of my colours, i like antiquing wax but it dulls everything etc etc. Quote

After dying I have some neatsfoot oil on it and let it set for at least 24 hours. Then I have a choice of high gloss, satin or matt acryllic finish (also from Angelus (or leather/satin sheen-Tandy). When that is dry I have the antiquing on and after a while lightly taking of all the excess with damp paper towels and then another layer of finishing...Done:-) To keep the leather color on this one I used Fiebings Hi-liter as antiquing, only leaves black in the groves and don't stain the leather. Hope this helsp a we bit:-) Quote "He who works with his hands is a laborer. He who works with his hands, and his head is a craftsman.
