Members kwalk20 Posted December 4, 2015 Members Report Posted December 4, 2015 Is there a tutorial for this? I used to do a braid similiar to this when I was a kid, but I have no clue how I did it. I would love to do this for a project. Quote
Members KnotHead Posted December 4, 2015 Author Members Report Posted December 4, 2015 here's the only tutorial. R= right L= left U= under O= over L to R - U1, O2 R to L - U2, O1 L to R - O1, U2 R to L - O2, U1 Now repeat steps 1 thru 4 till you reach the desired length. THIS MUST HAVE A CORE IN ORDER TO WORK PROPERLY. Brian Quote
Members bucksnort Posted December 14, 2015 Members Report Posted December 14, 2015 Thanks Brian, I use this on occasion for the top loop of a 12 strand romal. Easiest way to get a round braid from six strands. Appreciate the share. Buck Quote

Brian Hey guys unless I'm mistaken, Leather Braiding by John (he's on here too) has this but it does not require a core if you use a semi stiff or a gentle, but firm technique. I tend to do 3mm lace when I do these, but have had success with 5mm too. I start the braid on a key ring like a standard 8 part herringbone & pretend there is an extra on each side until the first pass. Brian... Hi, What is the braider's journal? I do not see a web page by that name. Is this a periodical? Thanks! On 11/14/2015 at 11:41 PM, KnotHead said: Quote
Members KnotHead Posted March 30, 2016 Author Members Report Posted March 30, 2016 The Braiders Journal is a pamphlet series on braiding and knot tying that at one time was distributed. Georg Schaake, Dr. John Turner, D.A. Segwick and a few others were involved in the development of the series. Quote
